I know this question pops up every month or so, but I cannot locate the responses.

Where is a good location on the web where I can find out how to build and where to buy from a AR-15?

TIA

Buy a stripped lower and get a low parts kit.

The main things to get in a lower that are changeable are the grip, stock, buffer tube, and trigger. Spend wisely.

I have recently become very interested in this as well. Even though it has been asked a lot, this is probably a good day for this question.

MY MAIN advice is to get the 1/7 twist to be able to load up a larger grain load into the 70's, instead of only being able to toss out 50-60 grain rounds.

LINK

that one is a -very- detailed link.... and still not the one i was digging for... well i gotta get to work, but those two links are -very- helpful, and very long winded.

LINK

very helpful chart here... i'm getting warmer on the post i wanted...

It's actually a .223 believe or not. It's got a 24 inch bull barrel which gives it the appearance of a larger caliber. It'll shoot out to about 800 yards. I wanna try further out but don't know if it would be accurate or not.

It's got a custom made upper (small company out of Cali called ARD)

Lower is DPMS

Magpul stock

Leupold Mark AR 6-18x40 scope

UTG bipod (Got this on Amazon. Cheaper than Harris bipod but I feel it works just fine.)

I got that complete lower (DPMS w/ Magpul stock) from rguns.net. They are kind of dickheads and have a fairly archaic site BUT there are some real steals on there price-wise.

I've been working on a build for a couple of months now. I know the actual "build" only takes a few hours (if that), but I have decided to make it a learning experience, and be as patient as I possibly can be in order to buy quality parts at the lowest price.

With that said, I've been really pleased with PSA. Wait a while until they release another batch of blemished lower receivers. The blemish on mine was literally just a tiny scratch on the inside of the mag well. They have really picky inspector, and sell the blems for $60.

They will usually do daily deals on random things, and every once in a while they do free shipping on top of it. Once I add a Magpul CTR stock, I will have finished my lower receiver for under $200.
