Question about the Rainmaker. Can he be looked at as a moral good guy trying to take down the mob and closing all the loops? With all the loops closed, the mob can't kill as they want.
SIAP
Yikes!

One of the best episodes of Seinfeld IMO

Other ideas were Headzo, The De-nogginizer, and Son of Dad. Yeah that was my suggestion.

I have to say that the kid that played The Rainmaker did an amazing job.
Better than Osment.
Better than Osment.

How can all the loops be closed, though?
What about younger versions of Joe? The younger Joe who shot himself closed the loop of all future Joes, but what about all Joes that are younger than the Joe played by JGL?

Agreed.
To answer the OP - Yes. The movie tries to make you forget the morality of the whole thing. Kinda like Dexter in a different way.
As far as general casting goes... I thought Emily Blunt was an interesting choice to play a semi-stereotypical American heartland farm girl.

That kid freaked me out. Seriously. I hate crazy kids in movies. I told my buddy when they showed him for the first time that I already hate him and want him off the screen because he will creep me out. Especially that first time he went off on his mom in the bedroom, I would have thrown him out the window.

Be glad you didn't. He would have flattened everything on the horizon.

I think his power would have been to slow.
I'd throw him and be like "c'mon c'mon don't make the world explode c'mon... YES!"
Gravity.

Looper was one of those well-done movies that I never want to see again. Kind of depressing.

I thought this too. If I remember correctly, the only view we had of the rainmaker was from the view of criminals. If criminals feared him there is a possibility he was more of a superhero than a super villain.

I thought it was entertaining, but filled with HUGE plot holes.

Yeah, I liked it while watching it, but for the next few days I just kept thinking of more and more things that pissed me off about it

That was the point at the end. The act should in theory change his future and the kids outlook on good v bad. As with any time travel movie the what ifs are a plenty. It comes with the genre.
Personally, I know it is a time travel movie, not a real world experience, but I felt the mental telepathy part jumped the shark a bit. I know the whole movie was about time travel so why is a little fing telepathy mess it up, but for me it did. Hated that part and thought it was over the top, in a not well thought out and bad flow kind of way.
