| moving to the Prairieville or Gonzales area (Posted on 11/3/12 at 3:42 pm)
I am looking for neighborhood suggestions. I am interested in getting the most space for my money in a safe area. My budget is $200k-$240k. I currently live in a great neighborhood in zachary with a house of about 1850 sq ft. We hope to have at least that much square footage in our next house. In my limited time in Prairieville, there appears to be great neighborhoods well out of my price range, and others that are in my price range but look cheaply built and houses are tightly configured. Of course I haven't seen every development. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you working and do you have kids? These two questions are the most important ones to ask.

Anywhere in Prairieville area is fine, I wouldn't move to Gonzales though unless it is out near Pelican Point

Ole homestead used to be my family land. My mom, dad and aunt still live there. Used to be a farm. I've slung more mud at cars on 933 and blasted more birds out there than you can imagine.

Definitely not crime. I am moving for work reasons. My commute will take me east. As long as I am in the general vicinity of the prairieville/gonzales area I will be fine. Commutes do not bother me.

Longwood on 73 near the Fire Station. Great neighborhood and the road construction won't last forever.

Longwood
Always like this neighborhood. I like ole homestead as well, but would much rather longwood, it isn't in BFE. Btw, what part of Pville makes a huge difference. Can mean 30 more minutes of traffic. Forget the name, but across the parish line on old Jeff (technically 100' down Oakland) is a great neighborhood. Would stay away from Parks at Dtown, Jefferson Crossing, Manchac Something(the one right by the overpass on Bluff), Waterford anything else built by Signature or All Star builders. House of match sticks type shite. Also would stay away from Bilwood Smith homes, but that is a personal thing (based on some facts).

Well go look and make an offer...it's one of two houses in the neighborhood..I'm not really desperate....I'm on per diem so I can afford the note and my rent...but I'd like to sell it

Don't forget the expansion on 42 that is about to take place, going to add to traffic nightmare depending on which way he is going. Still anywhere in Prairieville is 5 minutes from anywhere else, my house off 933 I can make it to Durchtown high in less than 10 minutes, St. Amant High in 8 minutes, and EA in 15
