I'll start by stating that unfortunately, LSU and poor quarterback play have become synonymous, but we as fans haven't always been down on our QB play. In fact, a majority of the QB's since Flynn we have fallen in love with at some point before having our hopes burn into smoke.

Flynn was pretty much well-liked his entire career, but I'd say his coming out party was against the U. Russell as well, really the hate didn't come until after he left LSU.

But with our recent guys it's been a roller coaster ride. Starting with Lee who I remember people were huge fans of coming in from HS, then he had his breakthrough performance on the road against Auburn. After that he had well below average performances against UF and UGA. We all know the rest which came with a plethora of "pick-sixes."

When Lee was having his struggles, we yelled and screamed for Jefferson. Besides a few scrambles, Jefferson didn't break out like we had all hoped until GT in the peach bowl, and we figured he was it. Then shortly there after, we never felt the same about JJ.

With Mett, it's different. We fell in love with the guy before he even made a play on the field. Is that fair for a JUCO transfer who has never played a snap in the SEC? Hell no. It's obvious Mett has the talent to be a dammn good QB, but maybe there is an alarming warning sign for LSU fans regarding their treatment of LSU QB's. Either the pressure is too much for these guys or we overhype every single signal caller that walks through that tunnel or a combo of both.

So, in hopes that Mett does not end up like RP, Lee, or JJ how about we show this guy some respect, have his back and please no matter how difficult it COULD be to watch against BAMA, refrain from the booing. No matter how the QB play is from here on out, the man under center will not change, barring injury, we might as well accept it and hope Mett progresses as he should.

Its hard to be sucessful in our scheme. You ever watch how other teams have WR's running around wide open and it seems that our WR can't get seperations. It's everything to do with route sequence. We run 4 routes, a curl, out, slant, and streak, thats it. No rub routes and clear routes, nothing to make the CB think anyting other than those 4 routes will hapen in his zone. It allows the CB to be very aggresive and only have to worry about the guy lined up accross from him. We never overload a zone to make a DB pick a route and read his move. Our pass scheme is very simple.

Totally agree Eye...I think it also has something to do with the personnel of the receivers. It's well-documented we don't have the tall, rangy wide-out who can stretch the field. Even worse, we don't have a reliable tight end, which was so crucial in our last dependable offense (07, Richard Dickson). We may have started something in terms of the staff realizing we can't run the football 60-65% of the time, but now we just need the players to complete it. Not saying we don't have some talented receivers because we do, but none of them fit the billing that hopefully Leslie, or Seals-Jones could bring. I can't wait for DeSean Smith to get here as well.

I agree though, I know it's an i-formation, but the one-two man route combos are terrible. I think our main issue is the fact we can't get to the middle of the field because it's full of defensive players to stop our run, so every pass has to be to the outside or over the top.

What a young QB needs is something that LSU doesn't have...a true offensive coordinator. This makeshift system they have now was ok for last year, the time has come for The Hat to find a real OC whose sole job is OC.

Just ask Alex Smith what instability at OC does for a QB, and what stability changes.

While I agree, (I really wish we could've gotten Chryst, because he ran a similar but successful offense at Wisconsin), I don't believe Miles will do it. The only thing that's possible is replacing Kragthorpe, and then demoting Stud to OL. Whoever Miles would get better be good with Qb's.

I'd be interested to know of any guys out there that are possibilities...

LSU fans are nothing more than a 16 year old girl desperate to fall in love. Every time a new one comes around you keep telling yourself that this is the one, in hopes it will turn out the way you want and your dreams will come true only blinded between what the heart wants and what your brain tells you.

Personally for me it's hard to respect Mett when Miles doesn't even have faith in him. He lets him throw maybe one or two times and if he doesn't produce then it's run, run, run. Maybe if the coaching staff would back him I'd feel better.

So far he throws like JJ and runs like Lee.

His arm strength is clearly better. He also seems to be a lot smarter. Tons of excuses can be made why he hasn't started off the way we all wanted him to.

1. WR drop balls
2. WR can't break coverage
3. OL
4. Holds on the football too long
5 Can't scramble out of the pocket

Some of these issues can be fixed in two weeks.

Not rue at all. If you count the sacks the ciaches have called over 30 pass plays in multiple games. Last year we threw a whopping 7 times against ole miss and strait dominated them. The coaches have completely changed what they wanted to do last year with jordan to what they want from mett

Throws better than both. Barely runs. It's hard to believe a collegic athlete can move that poorly.

It's hard to be successful in our offense. Sure, Mett isn't the best QB ever but the coaching is a big part to blame too. Especially when your playbook looks like this:

That's our entire offense and we haven't even used a few of those yet.
