Last night was not the best night for the Hornets; we look like a team without a system. While watching the game I was following the comments in the game thread, and was a bit surprised about how harsh some of the comments where towards Vasquez. First of all let me clarify that I agree he didn’t play well, and I think he has had a terrible preseason. Nevertheless, it seems like for many people he was the worst player in the team last night. The fact of the matter is that a lot of what went wrong with his game was not entirely his fault. Last night the team didn’t move, in most of the runs, there were hardly any opportunities to get good offensive passes due to the lack of initiative in the team in general. In the first quarter there was no one that would make a jump shot. Thomas and Rivers were playing really bad, and without them getting the open spaces, it was all in the hands of Davis and Lopez, and at least at the beginning they were missing many shots. Now let’s look at Vasquez stats: He took 8 shots, made 4. Of the 4 he missed one of them was a good penetration that got blocked by an amazing defensive play to the point that the commentators expended about 2 minutes talking about how good the defense was. Then the other 3 shots were really ugly shots that he took when frustrated for not being able to get the offense going on time. These 3 shots I agree are pretty much entirely his fault. Then he had 5 assists, but about 8 more good passes that were not converted. Finally, you have to see who was with him in the court. There was no Gordon, no Smith, Rivers was missing every shot before getting injured, and Thomas was a disaster. In the 3rd quarter when Anderson and Miler starting making some open shots, the offense looked a bit better and Vasquez got 4 of his 5 assists then. So chill out this is not the end of the world, and even when I don’t like Vasquez in the point guard position that is certainly NOT our main problem now. As we stand at the moment our only healthy second guard is Roberts, and under the basket we only have Lopez and Davis, so lest get real, and realize that the Vasquez problem is perhaps the least of our worries right now.

We're in trouble at PG this season. Can Eric Gordon move to pg? I know he was nice at pg in Indiana.

You either have to be someone related to greivis is some way or him himself the way that you talk about him so much. This is crazy.

And knowing you, I bet you made this same thread on hornets report.

I've been thinking the same thing. All the things he posts are about Vasquez.
Most of us here like Vasquez fwiw.

Are we sure about this? I had Greivis's near assist at 3.
In all seriousness, Gravy gets more love than hate on this board. The only real complaints about him are his lack of quickness. Furthermore, my only problem with last night from him, were his lazy passes in the first have that led to easy transition buckets.

Yeah it is. PG is our biggest hole (SF is a close 2nd). We are going with two journeymen type guys that are probably better suited to play SG. I don't blame them, but I'd have rathered kept Jack, then either re-signed him or picked up a new guard after the season. So everything Vasquez does is magnified. He's a pro, so he can take it. Especially in a forum I'm sure he never reads.

That's what I kind of assumed. Seems to be more of a follower of Greivis than straight Hornets fan.
