LSU Basketball Picked 11th. in SEC

In the preseason media poll, LSU basketball was picked to finish 11th out of 14. This is the results of the poll:
Kentucky (17) 328
Florida (5) 310
Missouri (1) 286
Tennessee (1) 269
Arkansas 226
Alabama 222
Ole Miss 186
Georgia 149
Texas A&M 122
Vanderbilt 120
LSU 116
Auburn 95
South Carolina 54
Mississippi State 37
No Tigers made the lst or 2nd team All Conference selections. It looks like a tough first year for Johnny Jones. We do have three starters returning, Johnny O'Bryant, Andre Stringer and Anthony Hickey but we are lacking in height and overall experience.
Jalen Courtney who was going to be counted on for a lot of minutes is currently injured. That will put a lot on the shoulders of senior Eddie Ludwig, JC transfer Shavon Coleman and true freshmen Shane Hammink and Malik Morgan. Seldom used senior Andrew Del Piero will also see more playing time as we are lacking any true centers.
Coach Jones will play an uptempo hustling style of play and hopefully this will help compensate some for our lack of tall players. I still have a lot of hope and think if we can consistently hit some outside shots we will be in a lot of games.
The first game is against Arkansas-Monticello on Nov. 5.

If obryant and hickey can play up to their abilities on a regular basis and avoid injury I really think this team is a piece or two away from shocking some folks.

I'm really looking forward to this year and respect the recruiting effort of Jones since coming on board. I'm not surprised by our low ranking since we've been down for some time, but am optimistic about this season and next few years coming up. Isn't next year's class top 20 as of now? I can't wait to be back in the big dance and hope it happens for us this year.
