Throwing all of the short passes on early downs in the first half

This should be our offense. It really helped to open up our running game later. However, I wish we hadn't gone away from it so much in the second half, at least not as early as we did. Seems like we shut it down on offense too early. It's my only criticism of a well played game.

i kinda like that idea. however, the way mett stares down the receivers on those short routes scares the shite out of me.

Mett did not play very good. Missed a wide open TD. He did make some key 3rd down throws though.

Only problem I have with it is going to the well too much. That pick with a huge return was pretty bad. Teams are going to start squatting on those and Mett has to learn to not force it. I also think they need to double move those quick passes a lot sooner.

It was the running back screens that opened up the run game.

More specifically, Mett was doing a three step drop and passing it quickly. This worked very well for a while until USCe jumped a route and a subsequent TD. It became predictable. Mett also used the shotgun and the pistol formation some.
He needs to correct his passes being thrown too high. They are difficult to catch and they are stretching out the receivers which put them in a bad position to be drilled if they make the catch. receivers hate catching balls thrown like that. This is correctable.
This team has a lot of potential but, it is a work in progress.
