Since it wasn't on TV last night, and the crowd had about 4k in it, I thought I would post a few thoughts on the game. Yes I posted some of these same thoughts in the game thread, but some people aren't going to dig through that.

A few disclaimers:

I left after the 3rd Quarter, so I didn't see the 4th at all. Didn't see Miller or any of that.

Yes I was courtside near the bench, no I'm not an OT baller. Got the tickets from a friend that is a major baller. So don't start.

Anyway:

I was actually very impressed with Aminu. Bet you thought I wouldn't lead with that? The guy played good D last night and was aggressive on Offense. He got to the line a good bit. He still missed things he shouldn't have, and at times is as awkward as a newborn giraffe, but I saw improvement out of him and aggression I hadn't seen. I'm not going to go out on any limbs and say he's going to have some great year...its preseason, its the Bobcats. But it was encouraging.

Davis: He is going to be the real deal. He was getting to the rim when he wanted to, and hitting some long jumpers I didn't think would be in his repertoire for at least a few years. He was also in the right spot a lot for rebounding and had good, active position on D. He altered a lot of shots just be jumping into the way of the shooter, not blocking it. His armspan is like that of condor. He is awesome. Con: I don't think he always hustles to the other end of the floor. I noticed it in the Olympics and last night...sometimes he just kind of trots to the other end of the floor and is the last man there a lot.

Rivers: Man, he is SMOOTH. To me, he just kind of glides with the ball in his hands. He played really well, was really good off the ball. He seemed to take the ball to the rim whenever he wanted to, which is something this team has been missing for long time. His FT shooting is a concern for a SG, its pretty shitty.

Jason Smith was sitting on a pad that looked like a booster seat. He did wince a little a few times when sitting down and standing up. The back must be sore. He is really into the game and called out a lot of things to the players, every time a shot is missed or LOLCats did something good, he would look visibly pissed off. I liked it. JSmoove

LOPEZ: He was awesome, much better than I thought he would be. Again, its preseason, again, its the Bobcats, but he was really, really good out there. Won position battles, grabbed boards, attacked the rim inside. He even had a really nice behind the back pass to a cutting AD who finished it with an emphatic dunk.

Roberts: He can score and has a nice shot...but he cannot play PG. Had not much of a clue how to run a team, set up teammmates, etc. I like him as an end of bench type guy, that can occasionally come in and give some "Pargo" type offense.

Ryan Anderson: Had a great night shooting the 3. Great night. If we can get that from him on a regular basis, he adds a tremendous advantage to the team and spaces the floor for our good bigs. Everything else about him I was not impressed with last night.

Yeah, for the 4000 people that were at the game.

No, I saw what I wanted to see. I didn't really care to see awful basketball with all of the backups in, and unfortunately I had some stuff to do at home before I went to bed, work, for something I had due this morning. I actually was going to leave at halftime but decided to stay for the entire 3rd. Glad I did. My fiance' didn't care and was content to sit there and drink beer.

Damn OT baller

Thanks though, the team sounds capable. Rivers is going to be our missing offense. Gordon who?

How bad were the Bobcats? Several stat lines were impressive, but my immediate reaction to seeing them was that the Bobcats were one of the worst teams in history last year with a very forgettable front court.

You didn't miss much in the 4th .

Haven't seen much of Miller, but seems like an athletic kid who will probably not see much of the court this season. I see him more of a project as the season progresses. He's got a really nice looking shot, would like to see him get some more time to learn the system or get more comfortable.

I thought they (the Bobcats) were better than last year, which isn't saying a whole lot. Definitely more athletic.

They really killed us in that 2nd Quarter. Disclaimer though: we had a 2nd and 3rd string line up out there for much of the 2nd and they had starters in. I think we had Roberts, Mason, Warrick, Anderson (for some of that run), Lance Thomas. They had Kemba in, Henderson, MKG (I think), Mullens and Biyombo. So of course we aren't going to do as well.

When the starters were in to start a Q we dominated them, completely.

But the bench is STILL a concern.

When Gordon comes back trotting out different lineups with Rivers, Anderson or Gordon in with the 2nd teamers will be a major improvement. But Mason didn't do anything at all, and while Roberts can score, as I said he can't run a team.

Ben Gordon is definitely a bright spot on that team, instant energy and scoring when he entered the game.

Mullins and Taylor seemed to be hitting 3's everytime I looked up in the first half. After looking at their box score though, they didn't hit nearly as many 3s as it felt

shite almost forgot that for a second.

Yeah having Smith out there with some combination of Anderson, Rivers and maybe 1 or 2 starters will be fine.

My thoughts.

A rare recap from me, though I'm 2 of 2 this preseason.

I believe Aminu's length and athleticism can make him a really good defender. I believe he could maybe turn out to be a better defender than Ariza. I know you say he was aggresive last night but does that also mean his shot selection w/in the offense was pretty good? I saw that he had a good number of attempts from the line which was a pleasant surprise for me.
