what that means anymore... i don't know.

going shotgun with jeremy hill and a tight end seems to give us the odd positive gain.

the qb and these receivers seemed to build up a heck of a rapport over the offseason, but it sure as frick hasn't translated itself into the games.

defense, as the kid in miami would say, 'good job. good effort.' it's a shame that those 2.5 quarters of giving it their all and minter's spectacular effort once again gets caught up in the failure that is our offense. we'll miss kwon. kid was having a nice game himself.

also, shoutout to the screen on 3rd and 18. can't wait till 2017 when we run another one.

he definitely seems more comfortable in shotgun sets. I think it's because he doesn't have to drop back..he struggles to read the field effectively and putting him back there in the gun probably helps that a little bit.

Don't know that unleashing him would do much good though..talent is there for sure, but it's not translating yet.

Uh we ran one later in the game & it got stuffed. Sorta like how we never let Shep run his sweep after scored an 80 yard TD. yea we ran it once yesterday & 40 other times in his career for a gain of 75 yards

AGREED- that's where he's comfortable.
REMEMBER - Miles doesn't make adjustments or coach to his players strengths.

This. And I'd like to see more of an effort at 15-25 yard passes.

We have seen no indication under Miles that he will make anything more than very minimal offensive adjustments. So we all continue to dream, but this opening up the offense will never happen.

not a passing vs. running but more of a 'wtf can we do at this point to successfully move the ball and set up scoring opportunities?' thing.

It's like they hired lafell as a recievers coach. Can't these kids catch in HS and if not why are they so highly recruited?

Of course they can. Part of the problems is coaching and part of the problem is that there is no rhythm to the offensive play-calling so none of the players can get comfortable.

More quick throws and short routes to develop some confidence for the QB and receivers early in the game would translate into less drops. But as is, a receiver may not see a ball for a few quarters at a time and when it does come to him he is trying too hard to make a big play because we generally need one with how anemic the offense is.

These highly recruited guys didn't just become bad players as soon as they hit campus. They are being failed by their coaches. There are a lot of teams that do a lot more with less talent, so it's stupid to blame the players.

Mett has the same problems as the reports that were coming out of spring. He has trouble with the short/intermediate passes.

Yup. All successful offenses begin with the Oline. Ours is beat all to heck. Until that is fixed it won't matter what we do. We can't run. We don't have time to throw. Even quick passes are an adventure with our receivers... but that's another matter.

He was running around lost. When Muncie, Louis and feist were in together, I knew it was over.
