Yeah, yeah, Saban kept Mauck in too long, but still great shite:

The Gators were not far removed from their glory days, and we were just coming into our own. The Advocate showed the front sports page of a Florida newspaper that, in war-time font, said "HUMILIATION", which I'd love to have to frame, but been unable to find since then.

Not only did he keep him in too long, he was running him when we were up by about thirty. He got him hurt, and fricked up the test of our season.

Eta: but yeah, that game was badass til that happened.

There was a silver lining in Mauck getting hurt - he became a better passer the next year instead of taking off at the first sign of pressure. But yeah the season tanked after Randall took over as the starter. And I believe the backup was Clausen who was plain awful.

Interesting fact- Corso had picked LSU v Texas in the MNC game that year but they met in the Cotton Bowl instead.

The season tanked after Maucks injury but it was kind of already down after being whipped by VT.
