Deadheads, what are your favorite years?

I really enjoy anything before 72 and then the Brent years.

Currently listening to the Spring 1990 Boxset.

Probably the Brent years.

It would be around 75-80 if Donna Jean didn't straight up frick up some otherwise great stuff.

I really like 71-74. The improv during those years with just Billy on the skins was amazing. And of course Europe 72 helps these years out as well.

In Phils book he talks about how he wished Donna would just shut the frick up

Mine is 77.

73-74 love the jazzy estimated > eyes and exploratory Dark Stars

Also love the late 80s - early 90s. Jerry had some great shows. Everyone should listen to the Morning Dew from 9/18/87. Amazing and so emotional. Gives me chills every time.

I think it's a Red Rocks '78 show I have where I'm thinking the exact same in a lot of it. Would sound great, but she opens her mouth.

i find the r'n'b grooves of jgb to be boring for the most part. acoustic jerry/kahn is the shite though.

over the span of their career, the dead were several different bands imo.

I love pretty much everything they did. But 72 and 77 stand out for me

I've been trying to get into the JGB lately but just haven't heard enough to get it yet. Could anyone hook me up with a place to get some boards and also what are some shows that are must have.

Also my answer to this question is probably '72, I just loved some of the more folky stuff they had going on. I also think a very underrated period of the Dead was when Hornsby was a member
