What's your budget looking like?? What kinda food you looking for? In Gainesville, or on the way there?

In Gainesville and want a decent steak, go to Mark's downtown. Want something cheap (under $10), go get the fried catfish special @ Adam's Ribs with collard greens and baked beans......on 13th (north of University by a mile or two).

We're going to be at Mark's Prime Steakhouse. I believe it is located downtown.

Mark's is the best restaurant in town, but you'll need reservations.

Blue Water Bay, which is downtown and near Mark's, is surprisingly good. They have boiled crawfish - and it was quite good. I lived in Lafayette for 20 years and raised crawfish and have boiled my share - and my wife and I were impressed. Show these crackers how to suck the heads.

Harry's downtown is fun and has good fried crawfish and a good oyster po-boy, but mediocre redbeans and etoufee. New Orleans theme.

Mexico Lindo is excellent for Mexican food and is inexpensive - but it is about ten miles from campus.

All the traditional chains are here - mostly on Archer Road: chili's, bonefish, Fridays, carraba's, Olive Garden, etc.

I would stay away from places near campus (except for Mildred's) unless you are a student .

Sonny's is good, but Back Yard Bar B Que in Newberry is very good. But it is about 20 miles from campus.

Safe for visiting fans?

The top is my favorite place in town. It is a hippie place, but has a great beer and cocktail menu. Really good burgers. Must thave the fried corn nugget app. Plenty of non vegan food. There will be a wait here though.

The best steak place is Embers. It is very resonably priced (for a steakhouse). Blue crab bisque here is one of the best soups I have had.

101 Downtown is a good place and located in the downtown area. You have to put up with techno music playing though.

Dragonfly has really good sushi and is also in downtown area.

The swamp will be packed but also has good food and will have a gameday and college atmosphere.

Blue gill is near campus and is pretty good. Great bourbon and tequilla selections. Awesome burger with shredded spare rib and pimento cheese on top.

Rocky's. It's a lot of fun.

BTW, we like going to 101 Cantina right across from campus for happy hour. Nice outdoor setup.

Also, Leonardo's pizza on 43rd (by Milhopper) is amazing.
