I got on my desktop this afternoon for the first time in probably a week and it worked fine checking email, msn then the FBI pops on, locks it, tells me I've been watching porn and that is has been infected without my knowledge with malware and I have to go buy a $200.00 money pack to get it unlocked. Cox said it was a scam and a virus but it is still locked up. Reboot and can get into safe mode but if I get out it pops back up.

What to do here? And I don't watch porn on my desktop so I don't know what happened. (I have an iPad and iPhone if I want porn)

Seriously I don't know what to do. Do I need geek squad or something?

It's called ransom ware.

Try Googling. I have no clue how to get rid of it. May need a full wipe.

It's locked. I'm on my iPad. No way to google on the desktop.
I'll google here and read about.

Download malwarebytes on another computer, put on flash drive, boot infected pc in safe mode, install and run malwarebytes.

If that doesn't work, boot infected computer in safemode, backup essential files to an external hard drive, and reformat and reinstall operating system.

It's called Reveton. Just watched a video and read about it. I'm a moron when it comes to fixing this but I'm going to try.

It is ransom ware and that's some spooky reading.

You can try this, it is from Microsoft if you have a computer with a USB drive.

Download Windows Defender Offline and create a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.

2.
Restart your PC using the Windows Defender Offline media.

3.

Well I knew that from the beginning. But it's a pretty authentic looking document. Seems this version started in August.

This'll fix it 'breh:

Quit looking at porn :D

It's a prog called EMSISOFT. Malwarebytes will get laughed at as this virus is very deep seeded and doesn't involve registry values.

NP man, good luck.

That should work, but if it doesn't, check into ComboFix - that is a lights out program, but DO NOT F*** with the computer once it starts running. DO NOT! Virii like this FBI one are semi new so not much research has been made available - kinda of a new strain if you will.

I've been reading about it. Seems these type started in Russia and are recent to the US. First quick glance and it makes you read a little closer. I'm sure many people run out and buy the $200 ransom.

I'm going to run it this morning. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks

My friend got this on his computer when he was looking at porn. The virus also activated his webcam...so along with the FBI message, he got to also see himself on cam, presumable whacking it. Needless to say, it freaked his shite out...
