Danielson is not saying LSU is automatically better than Stanford, he's saying LSU had a good win over Washington, as evidenced by UW's other win. That's how calculate strength of schedule. It is entirely appropriate to say LSU's Washington win is quality due to UW's win over a top ten team.

If you do not believe GD is strongly intimating that LSU would beat Stanford as well, given the context of what he is actually stating will happen in the match up of LSU @ UF, then I can't help your thought process. GD could be eating some crow on Saturday and we will see if Stanford is in the top 10 at the end of the season, as well. I seem to like UF's wins vs A&M and UT better than some, guess we will see.

this is not the transitive property. People need to stop making the mistake when trying to look all smart about the transitive property. To review, this is the transitive property: Team A beats Team B who beat Team C. Therefore, Team A > Team C. When people say the transitive property doesn't work, this is what they are talking about. However, using the same fact pattern, Team A beats Team B who beats Team C (who is a top ten team), Therefore, Team A's win over Team B is pretty good. That is not the transitive property. That is a strength of schedule argument. Danielson is not saying LSU is automatically better than Stanford, he's saying LSU had a good win over Washington, as evidenced by UW's other win. That's how calculate strength of schedule. It is entirely appropriate to say LSU's Washington win is quality due to UW's win over a top ten team. Sorry, pet peeve of the weekend.

Hey, I think UF will lose Saturday, and I'm a Gator fan...

But I hope the players hear what GD said. I don't think LSU will "roll" UF...

If you think Danielson was trying to make a statement of LSU's quality relative to Stanford while trying to discuss the Florida game, I don't understand your thought process. No one is trying to make the point that LSU is better/worse than Stanford. No one cares, and it is not a topic for debate. People care whether LSU is better than Florida, as that's the game that's going to be played.

Or maybe Oregon, as they are a national title contender from the Pac-12, but he wasn't discussing that. To think anyone was interested in his opinion on LSU's chances in a mythical matchup with Stanford strikes me as absolutely insane.

In a post by the OP on page 1:

quote:

He also said: "Anyone concerned with how good LSU is needs to watch the Washington game and see a team that destroyed at 9 win team this year, and also beat a top 10 program in Stanford"

I read GD believes UW will be a 9-win team and that Stanford is a legit top 10 team. I also infer from his declaration of the LSU destruction of UW he intimates LSU would beat Stanford soundly. It is not a matter of "caring" whether LSU is better or even plays Stanford this season, nor overlooking the game at hand vs UF. Get off your high horse.

Danielson (along with Blackledge) are both very insightful but I'm somewhat surprised if he really said that (OP).

On the other hand it was Danielson who also suggested early into the 2nd qtr vs Arky last year that it might be time for a QB change. It's easy to pull out the stat sheet for that game and say he was wrong. But his point, I think, is that for us to center our O around JJ was putting some games at risk. I guess in the end Danielson was vindicated.

why isn't he addressing the Alabama game, only Ga, and South Carolina will be hard for LSU? Or does he expect BAMA to roll over us? I like him too, I just want to know what he thinks about us against BAMA.

how in the fvck can a commentator calling a game go on radio and make predictions about who wins the game ?

clearly it happened from all the accounts, but how? thought it was against the rules for these guys
