Passing game?

I don't know much about the passing game, but could some of our problems be the lack of a passing game over 4 years? Could it be that everyone on the offense has to adjust their approach because we are running plays and routes that haven't been run for quite some time? I have noticed that teams going from the spread offense to a pro style offense have had their struggles with blocking assignments and execution of the new scheme. Does anyone have any knowledge on this matter?

These are the highest caliber division one athletes. This shouldn't be an issue.
