ahh the dreaded "English Week" in German footy. Really looking forward to the frankfurt v dortmund showdown. i'll be watching that one and the bayern game on tape delay. have a test tomorrow afternoon. the hannover v nurnberg game is an early season look at the potential battle for a champions league spot. nurnberg has been building a nice club of late, chandler is quality. now if we could only get him to show up in october....

leverkusen will be looking at a very long campaign if they cannot get 3 points from augsburg

to that. i'm hoping hoffenheim can get their defense in order (considering that's where the americans play ) they have scored i think 7 goals but have allowed 12 in the 4 games. i was expecting a run at champions league from them to be honest, they made some changes in the transfer window. i'd say their chance at that is slipping away quickly the more they give up 5 goals to freiburg

I really like the look of this Hamburg side. I watched them play against Dortmund, and was mightily impressed.

hamburg played well against bvb, but that is their only win to accompany 3 losses on the season. they are potentially looking at being relegated for the first time in club history.

eta: should know more about them after their next two matches against gladbach and hannover

It might be that they were up for the Dortmund game, but they were direct, and that Korean player they have was on fire. I don't think they will challenge for the title though. I have an affinity for the city of Hamburg so I hope they and St. Pauli do well.

probably a little bit of that and the fact that they REALLY needed to get at least a point. have you visited hamburg or do you just like the city? i've never been, but i understand it is a little rough around the edges. i know the st pauli district is definitely not a nice place. they've got young joe gyau right now though, so i'd like to see them get promoted. they are struggling right now though, cant seem to manage much more than a draw.

Alternatively I thought since its my first year following the league I would pick a promoted side like Dussledorf, though it would suck if they got relegated and I couldnt watch them

Eintracht Frankfurt is running shite right now.

I'm still waiting on SV Wehen Wiesbaden to make the big show.

yes, no need to rush as you dont want to pick the wrong club and then change. the "big" clubs are bayern, scheisse 04, bvb. other teams that are typically in european play are stuttgart, hannover, leverkusen, wolfsburg sometimes bremen, hamburg and gladbach. hamburg is the only club to have never been relegated, but they arent very dominant.
americans play for hannover, nurnberg, hoffenheim and occasionally other clubs.

lots of parity, most clubs dont finish in the same position they did the year before.

eta if you are looking for a newly promoted side, then definitely definitely go with frankfurt. they place nice attacking football, shouldn't have to worry about them going down anytime soon, frankfurt is a big city with great, albeit rabid fans.

bayern is going rape city right now. 3-0 in the 81st. goals from pig sticker in the 24th and mandzo in the 57th and 65th. schweinsteiger has now scored in 4 of 7 games in all competitions. mandzo has 7 goals in all competitions now. i dont even remember who mario gomez is.

frankfurt and dortmund tied 3-3. klopp got sent off in the 90th. not sure what went down. piscez, reus and gotze scored. bayern are 2 points ahead of 2nd place frankfurt and 7 points ahead of 5th place dortmund.

This early start to the season must be making Gomez nervous. We don't need him.

mandzo fits our german tiki taka to a much better degree. he is actually pretty mobile for such a big guy. he also likes to drop back further on the pitch and help out with the build ups. gomez might would be useful in games where we arent trying to pick the lock, but i dont want to watch him struggle mightily with parked buses.

I'm loving how the campaign has started off, i dont think anyone has put in a bad shift this whole year. muller was fairly shite vs schalke but then exploded.

The competition within the squad is what's helping, IMO. Robben may not like the rotation, but I'm loving it so far.
