Pretty god episode.
5 episodes left in the season makes me think we'll get a glimpse of the mother to an extent, something.
I'm sure 1 episode will be Robin telling Barney she can't have kids, hell, they may even make that 2 episodes and then the finale will give a slight glimpse at the mother or a big hint at who it is leading up to the final season.

So next year is the final season? I watched the first 3 or 4 seasons but I couldn't keep up all the shows I was juggling anymore..
I will still catch a new one here and there and definitely watch reruns of eps I've never seen, but there are just too many I missed. But of course I want to see who the F the moms is

The last episode of the season is Barney and Robin's wedding, season will probably end cliffhanging on meeting the mother moment.

That's really the only way to do it without losing a huge chunk of the audience for next season.

I am hoping for a visual of her but if history is any indication, we won't get that.

I hope they put in some real details to the relationship next season, but don't expect them to give us anything this season.

Awesome episode..best in a while. Almost everything had me laughing.
Only thing I didn't like was the Robin/Barney playbook conversation. That was a HUGE deal of him burning it, and it showed Robin that Barney was ready for marriage. But he didn't burn it. And all it took was a 30 second conversation for her to be cool with it? bullshite.
Ted with Barney in his ear was great. Weekend at Barney's was great. Marshall at the art show was great. Etc. When the artist dude ended up beating Marshall to the lame joke (I guess you could say it makes my....va....go ), I busted out laughing.

At first, I was kind of annoyed by that. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that Barney was right. It's actually more consistent for his character to have done that. He was right about Robin falling in love with what he is, not some new improved version of him. Even though it was a big deal to burn the book, ultimately it was still just another part of a play that Robin fell for.
She can be mad at herself for falling for it, but it's not like she didn't know what she was getting into.
I don't feel like that's the end of it though. She's going to reconcile that she'll have to deal with that part of Barney's character and come to accept it. What will be his part of the quid pro quo there? Her barren womb?

I understand that, but still...no erson ever would have been cool with something like that, and especially a woman. And burning the ACTUAL book was the play...that was part of the setup for him to get engaged. That's the thing. It wasn't a huge lie and a fake book was burned; it was supposed to be the real book. Robin has every right to be furious about that, and for a while too.

Agreed. And I'm not sure, but the children thing would be a good balance I think. Also, are we 100% positive that Barney doesn't know about her barren womb, or are we still speculating on that at this point..?

I thought that only she knows, but I'm as unreliable a source on this as Bob Sagat's disembodied voice, so I don't know.

Well she told Ted, right? So he knows.
Anyway, I expect the season to end at the wedding with one of the many teaser shots of the wife without us actually meeting her. Ted saying something to her, etc, but they don't actually show her or her reaction.
SPOILER
Next season they have already insinuated that there would be story telling changes, ie perhaps complete episodes focusing on the mother and her friends, and how events in the past played out from her perspective. We'll see if they actually do that.

1. This episode was awesome.
2. You figs saying this is dragging out and just want to know who the mother is must hate baseball. You watch seven innings full understanding that its a 9 inning game, then get mad in the middle of the 8th because you don't know who won yet.
3. Idiots

It's been more like going in expecting a 7 inning game and instead of giving us an official outcome after 7 innings, everyone involved just decided to add a couple more innings on the back end, only with shittier coaching.

This season has been much better than some recent ones, and I'm excited to see the new storytelling next season. Sadly I'm expecting them to do like has been mentioned and maybe show the mom but not show her face, just to keep the viewership high for next year's opener. But if they do storytelling from her POV they would HAVE to show her in episode 1, right?

Youre right. Baseball sucks.

I dunno, by now the kids know how he met their mother. The former roommate of a girl Ted banged played the music at Barney and Robin's wedding. He then talked to her while waiting on a train in the rain. The rest of it is just what we as viewers want to know, but the title question has been answered.
obviously the kids know what their mom looks like so they dont have the same curiousity that we have.
