One of my favorite games in Tiger Stadium, and one of the most important I have ever seen.

Probably not as appreciated as much as other LSU-Auburn games. If you weren't in the stadium, it was only seen in Alabama as a PPV event.

This game symbolically ended 6 straight losing seasons. In DiNardo's 1st year, he split the first 2 games on the road, and this was his first home game, against #5 Auburn. We were able to wear white jerseys at home for the first time in years, and got some revenge for the Howard Interception game the previous year.

One of the loudest games I've seen in Tiger Stadium. I had never seen the stadium rock like this, and fan interest in the program skyrocketed. Although his tenure ended badly, it was DiNardo's success that paved the way for what LSU is now

Nicky (gun man) Savoie with the TD

Can't forget Patrick Nix complaining about the fake whistles that he heard that led to the safety

+1 - for all of his faults, Gerry D made LSU relevant again.

I bet his ears were bleeding. When they were backed up into the student section, it was freakin' loud.

The Auburn announcers for the PPV telecast swore they heard a whistle, but I was sitting in that end zone and didn't hear any such thing!

Remember this game well. The girl I was dating at the time got all liquored up at the tailgate. We get into the stadium and she starts crying/feels sick, etc.

We leave before kickoff. From my apartment just off campus, I can hear the stadium erupt before the Twillie int is shown on tv.

I can also hear the GF upstairs dry heaving. I was so freakin' pissed off at her.

lsu's defense was dominate in the '94 & '95 games.
there were a lot of good players on that '95 lsu squad.
'95 shouldn't have been that close. andre lafleur was normally pretty reliable, missed those two fg's & howard with an interception at the goal line.
i remember thinking,"this program is cursed & destined to lose."
that was definately one of the most exciting games in tiger stadium.

Was in the student section that night. It never rains in TS but it rained bourbon when twillie came down with that pick. I remember before the game that Gerry D walked outside the stadium between the PMAC and TS to take in the environment. He took this walk solo and it was later than the normal trek down the hill. The crowd outside went crazy. We knew we were there to win that night.

I couldn't really see that interception to seal the game as I was sitting in the SEZ.

Had no clue what happened until the student section erupted. It seemed like forever waiting to see who, if anyone, caught that ball.

amazing game and experience

My freshman year. loved every second of it. I remember after the game, everybody was blowing the horns leaving Tiger stadium, people in beds of trucks waving lsu flags. The magic was back but vanished in 98.

The twillie int sent at least 89 jack n cokes into the air in the student section. That was a common trend in the student section in the 90s.

my soph year.

that game doesn't get the love it deserves and remains one of the top 5 games i've been to.

i know most think everything started with saban but this game was an important first step.

I used to do my southern drawl impression of their QB (patrick nix).....
"white jerseys...i ain't afraid of no white jerseys. i've never lost as a stawwwter."

FIFY

everyone has to at least admit that dinardo showed what LSU could be. i submit that without dinardo, saban never would've come here.

I know some fans think this way, and Saban certainly took the program to a new level, but prior to DiNardo's arrival:

LSU rarely had hard sellouts of home games, with tickets unavailable outside the stadium.
LSU had a reputation of not traveling well to road games & bowl games until DiNardo's tenure made road games a big demand and a hot ticket
The East Upper Deck was built because of the increased interest and ticket demand because of DiNardo's 95-97 success.

Gerry really lit a fire under the fan base. His tenure ended poorly, but he really laid a great foundation for the future.
