The numbers from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office are 50 percent higher than a previous projection by the same office in 2010, shortly after the law passed. The earlier estimate found 4 million people would be affected in 2016, when the penalty is fully in effect.

a) That is a lie. The president was extremely adament that no one making under $250,000 would have any tax increase applied to them. So this is just impossible.
b) The number will end up being north of 6 million. First, once those paying $15K a year for a family plan realize they can pay this small fee, that number dwarfs as... (2)the 'uninsured' will now willy nilly increase their medical exposure and not care about paying as theiy psychology is they are now paying a tax because of their lack of coverage. What was a quazi taboo (not paying your bills or using a service without paying) are out the freaking window. The math on the penalty ensures it. The penalty would have to be exponentially higher to force people to get coverage and that was not politically attainable.

This just in professor, you are still going to subsidize them. $1,200 fee for not getting a policy that averages $15K (for a family).
You think this will change behavior? You think they still wont get insured and go to the hospital. You dont think others will see this as cover to say frick it, let me just pay the government tax and just use the system like the other deadbeats.
Show me a $15K fine and we can talk about not subsidizing. $1200 is a gimmick that a 7 year old with a calculator can figure out.
