I'm looking for opinions on the defense. No sacks in the last three games that I can remember. The corners seem to be untested yet. LB look somewhat weak. What are some of your opinions? Is the defense this year as good as last year?

Think less...

No really, think less. Quick passing games eliminate sacks, LBs have been much improved, we have a few secondary assignments to correct.

Overall defensive speed is the best I can remember.

I'm just wanting people's opinion about what they're seeing. I couldn't remember any sacks. I'm overjoyed with the overall play, 100% better than last year. I'm just gunshy that we aren't as good as what I think we are.

Younger than we expected them to be, but already getting better game to game.

See the other thread. Look at the offenses we have faced. All those bitching about Oregon and WV last year. We still beat the shite out of them. Stats are for losers.

I don't think the D is as good as last year. Not saying it isn't good at all just not as good.

are you sure you're talking about the defense? 100% better than last year would be a shutout every game and negative yds on every play.

Selective memory I guess...we sacked Keith Price 4 times and pressured him all night long.

How so? UW was supposed to be a pass heavy team and they didn't do shite against our corners. Mills has 2 picks. Him and Collins look fantastic through 3 games.

Again, what are you watching? Kevin Minter is a frickin beast dude.

Clearly you dont think so, but they look pretty sharp so far with the exception of a couple mental gaffes against inferior opponents.

very solid dline....minter and barrow are leading by example and the lb kids are fast and furious....cb's have been, for the most part, effective in coverage and tackling....safety's, led by Reid, should be a strength.

it's hard to replace two first rounders and TM7 is not helping watching from the stands....that said,

DL...better.
LB's...better.
CB's...not better, but getting better.
Safety's...same, slightly better.

only time will tell.

All the no sack games have shown is that you can't beat us by throwing short all game. Biggest worry going in was-

- new faces at CB...Mills looks great, nobody seems to much test Simon.
- new faces at safety (Reid as leader, Loston a starter) ...mixed. Reid has not been as good without Taylor. Martin looked better than Loston.
- young guys at LB. Not been too much of an issue.

This defense is good but I don't think its better than last year. Its hard to replace mo, the top pick in the draft for defensive backs, and the honeybadger,a Heisman finalist. This defense has a long way to go before it proves itself to be as good as last year. The lb's are better but d-backs are unproven.

Dline is fine. They get consistent pressure if QBs take more than 3-step drops. Everyone is trying to throw quick passes to slow them down and it's hurting the offensive teams, not us.

LBs have played great so far except Muncie. He's inconsistent. Minter looks like a great MLB and Barrow looks good too.

CBs have played great except for a couple blown coverages. Collins/Mills both look good and always in position for INTs. 2 INTs for a true freshman already...

S kinda suck so far tbh. Martin looks good and then blows a coverage. LOSTon looks slow. Reid is always out of position. Need improvement here. Not sure what happened to Reid but he hasn't looked good yet this year...

It's scary the depth that the defense has.

we demolished keith price whenever they tried a downfield pass. We didn't get sacks vs idaho and north texas because everything they threw were quick short passes. They knew they were at a huge disadvantage in the trenches.
