re: The Saints would be so much better with Chase Daniel and Brees' money spent on

To the OP-
You just don't realize how important it is to have a quarterback at the caliber of Brees in the NFL.. you simply don't.
Also you are better off building D in the draft.. than to take risk on high priced free agents.. who you have no idea what you are going to get. With Brees you have a proven winner. Period. Since 2006 up until this season no QB in the entire NFL had more wins than Brees. The Saints were still able to add a key LB this off-season in Lofton..
Another thing - Brees' contract is set up beautifully. Very front loaded. He deserved it. He was underpaid all the while being here.

Not even close to frontloaded. His $37m signing bonus is spread out evenly per year. His base salary goes:
2012: $3m
2013: $9.75m
2014: $10.75m
2015: $18.75m
2016: $19.76m
That's what's pissing me off most about sitting on almost $7m in cap space this season. If they don't end up using it to extend someone like Graham or Bushrod this year, it will be wasted. We should have given him an extra $5m this season and knocked off $2.5m in each of 2014/2015. 2016 doesn't really matter since he'll probably get extended a few years.

One other thing..
Exactly what defensive players you want to sign this past off-season? Or Next season?
You can't sit back and bank on top defensive players WANTING to sign with New Orleans.. Especially a New Orleans team without Drew Brees. Exactly what would be so enticing about that?

I was suprised to read this garbage of a post then I realized you had LSU next to you user name AND we've won 5 out of the last 6 so I realized it went hand in hand...
it kinda took the sting out of it... a little

There is no coherent logic in the op's assertions..many of the posters in these seven pages have proven that.
This player is the light of New Orleans. Because of his extraordinary talent on the field and his unbridaled generosity off the field, an entire nation focuses positively on New Orleans and the New Orleans Saints football team.
I really don't know how to thank him.
