is it the defensive scheme that we play? for some reason, we just seem to leave a hole in the middle of the field.

up to now, our safety play seems to have mitigated the effect, however, as i read in another thread, we are are really missing Brandon Taylor.

i'm not calling for anyone's job or declaring the end of an era....just curious why this seems to be such a weakness of ours.

flame away.

I agree, but I think the problem will be fixed.

That's 75% of Bamas offense, quick dump off to the middle of the field

we have proven that it works. and what it amounts to is that we give up some yards, and end up with a statistically stingy defense, but also one which seems to make a lot of mistakes. i saw a lot of things last night which gave me pause - arm tackling, bad angles, etc. it doesn't seem to affect us in the short term though. at least as long as our talent level is so far superior to that of everyone else. even when we play alabama, we have enough talent to win. just seems like that one will come down to which team makes the fewest bumble headed errors. and i don't like our odds when it comes to bumble headed errors.

Our defense has been prone to underneath routes by rb since the Chris Leak days at Florida.

Brandon Taylor was an unsung hero.

But I guess every defense has a soft spot. Even 2003 defense struggled with running backs releasing to the middle

Young/inexperienced LBs is the answer.

I also thought that R. Martin was caught out of position a few times (most notably on their Td). Chalk that up due to experience I guess. I like Martin's athleticsm right now over Loston.

Taylor was a very sung hero. I don't think he got #18 for nothing. Most people were aware of his impact. Everyone saw how downright dominant we were against Washington. It was only natural to have a relaxed game against Idaho.

Where have you been, this has been going on for years. Hell Darren Thomas dinked and donked for 200+ and Geno Smith did it for 400+. It's called bend but don't break for a reason. I know it hurts looking at it but that is the only plan teams have against our DL.

i agree and think we'll be fine. i really like our young guys. twin Jalens, Ronald Martin, Debo and Co. i am sure a lot of it has to do with youth.

the perfect example of this scheme is WVU last year just putting up all kinds of numbers on us. in the end though, our depth, size, special teams etc caused their mistakes and we held things up enough to end up with a 'dominant' victory. that said, there were some real holes exposed in that game which were readily exposed again at other parts of the season. just seems to be the scheme or something...like the fact that we bring a lot of pressure.
