Has anybody else ever noticed it? I wonder if there's a psychological term for this tendency?

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, it seems to me that virtually every time there is a "50/50" call on a potential touchdown where the ballcarrier is kind of stumbling towards the goalline, or being tackled at the goalline, or diving into a pile at the goalline (especially where the ball isn't visible), the referees almost never give the benefit of the doubt to the side of "Touchdown". Which on it's face is kind of a mistake, since ALL scoring plays are reviewed automatically, and that would be sort of a built-in check for them.

If you don't know what I'm talking about - watch for this tomorrow or next weekend. I bet you'll see it happen 3 or 4 times in a day of football.

I've had the same impression. Maybe the review has made officials more attentive to the precise spot when the knee touches whereas in the past they were more likely to call TD when the lunging player got the ball across the line.

I kind of like it that way. You only get the score if it is definitely a touchdown. Refs dont have to guess. Not sure, put it on a the inch line. What do most people say, you can't score from there you don't deserve it any way.
