L'Auberge Baton Rouge sports bar

The Missus and I went over to L'Auberge Baton Rouge yesterday to check out the new casino. It is a very nice place, up there with the nicest places on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and miles ahead of the casinos in Baton Rouge. They must have an amazing air filtration system, because for a while I thought it was a non-smoking casino. The only give away was the ash trays.
They've got a couple of nice bars in the casino, looks like one overlooking the Mississippi River will have live entertainment. Dining wise, there's the buffet, which looked huge, a nice steakhouse, a sports bar and a PJ's Coffee stand selling pastries.
I won a little dough playing blackjack, so we stopped at the Stadium sports bar for a late lunch. They told us there was a 20 minute wait for a table, but we got a spot at the end of the bar right away. The place was decorated nice, with a lot of pictures of great moments from LSU, Saints and Hornets history. There are dozens of flat-screen TVs in there.
We started off with a dozen buffalo wings for $12. Those are some of the best wings in Baton Rouge. Crispy, big and meaty with lot of zing.
I got the grilled steak frites sandwich $12. That's a classy name for a Philly steak sandwich. It was a little dry, but there was a side of this jalepeno mayo that was nice. The fries were good.
The Missus got a cheeseburger for $10. It was nice and juicy, with a good flavor. The guy next to us ordered a shrimp poboy, but got an oyster by mistake. The poboy was full of nicely fried oysters, but the shrimp looked a little skimpy.
They've got a fairly decent selection of beers -- the usual suspects along with a couple of selections from St. Arnold, Nola and Bayou Teche. Lot of speciality drinks including one called "The Honey Badger".
Our bartender was a nice guy. Service was a little spotty, but the place just opened, that's to be expected.
Overall, we liked it a lot. I can see myself coming back to eat at the sports bar again in the future.

I got to eat at Stadium the night before we opened so I would have some knowledge of the place and their workers could train some more, and I really liked it a lot.
Firstly, the menu is VERY unique for a sports bar. I thought it would be a small menu with a burger, some nachos, and maybe a chicken sandwich. But there's much more than that. Hell, the nachos have their own category on the menu with several different kinds.
I got the fried mac and cheese app, which were actually little cakes. Looked like crab cakes. The mac and cheese had bacon on top as well.
Also got the BBQ shrimp app.. meh. Wasn't traditional New Orleans style, so I'd skip that. They tasted like boiled shrimp.
My friend and I each got an entree and split both. We got the chicken fried steak sliders, which were mini chicken fried steaks on biscuits with white gravy and bacon. DELICIOUS!!!
Also got a burger with pulled pork and mac and cheese on it! Very interesting for sure.
Our service was spotty as well, but it was the very first time they were ever trained around customers (the restaurant has been under construction until the day before the casino opened) so I don't fault the servers.

Glad to see this thread. I was wondering about this place. Their website is horrible. I couldn't even tell if it was open yet.
May go this Friday.
Is the hotel open? By the website it doesn't appear that it is.

Yes, it's open. But I believe we're booked until December or something insane like that.

I just got back on the website and it is updated now.
There are rooms available (I tried some random dates), but probably not on weekends.

Sounds like I need to go check it out.
LL I assume you work there? You probably know one of my friends. On her facebook she's listed as the "Talent Acquisition Specialist". But I thought she was something like the food and Beverage Coordinator. But not entirely sure.

Well since I cocktail, the beverage managers are all in charge of me so maybe I do know her. I have one female bev manager and I've known her for a while outside of L'Auberge.

part of my response from another thread on the OT

right when we got there i put my name down for a group of 12 at "stadium sports bar and grill". she said it was an hour and a half wait and maybe even longer since we had such a big group. wasn't an issue for us, since we were there to party anyway. after an hour at edge i walked over to check on our table. she asked if she could break us up and i said yes so we got taken right then. table of 4 of us and the the other 8 sat right next to us. Scenery was great, and had probably 80% LSU/Saints decor, in a classy way (pistol pete jersey framed and shite). TV's everywhere too. i think we got 5 apps and everyone ordered an entree. all apps were great, and everyone claimed their entree was great also. the main app i was hooked on was the tator tower. it was about a pound of tator tots with chili, cheese, and sour cream. unbelievable. in all honesty, if you take a date there, order one app and one entree and ya'll will still have leftovers. portions were huge. i had 4 purple hazes, my andouille sandwich, and split 2 apps with a ticket of 28 bucks. very, very reasonably priced.

That price ain't bad. Our tab was a little bit more. They were out of house Chardonnay, so the Missus was ordering $11 a glass wine. The bill ended up being about $72.

about one full football season, but they will probably take it off the menu for 4 games.
