Leaving BR. I like my comforts too much to be stuck with no power for days. Should I go to Memphis or Houston?

Houston man. I'm here now... 88 & sunny.

There's a chance the storm follows you straight to Memphis.

The storm is moving more westward now FWIW.

True, but it would have to take a huge due west track to effect Houston. I think we'll be aight.

ETA: also, if this guy is leaving walker it would be an easier drive going west. He'll have to drive through some serious eastern bands to get to 55 N. of Hammond. The radar is basically clear west of BR. Would be clear sailing all the way to Texas, IMO

Memphis. We are not accepting any evacuees this time around.

Seriously though our county judge stated that on the radio yesterday.

I don't want this thing to take off down the coast and hit Houston and I will have to evacuate from there. At least if I go to Memphis it will be relatively weaker by the time it gets there.

Yea he did. He said it was because of Rita. He doesn't want to evacuate people into the path of another storm...

But we know that's not the main reason.

it is projected to go right around Memphis.

Also, this weekend in Memphis is the Memphis Music and Heritage Fest which is free on Main St.

It is also Cochon which is a Porkand Bourbon festival. Cochon is on the pricey side though.

i'm 10 minutes south of memphis...according to NOAA we're only supposed to get 1.0"-1.5" of rain over the next 5 days.
