Just curious if anyone ever did this. My cousin caught a 90 lb yellowfin this past weekend doing just this. Put a live hardtail under a jug with about 30ft of 400lb mono and a big arse hook. Said the jug went crazy and they let it sit for about an hour then went gaf the wore out tuna.

I've often wondered why this wasn't done more often.

Sounds fun, jugging is only allowed in freshwater here in FL for recreational anglers. Jugging is illegal for both recreational and commercial anglers in Saltwater.

It was some type of orange bouy thing. Much stronger than a regular old plastic jug. They had tow hook up but tried to gaff the first one too soon and it tore off.

hookup to dead in the boat in about 20 seconds. meanwhile the other guy has a fish on the whole time and doesn't seem close to putting it on the boat.
