I'd say:

1. Cowboys
2. Packers
3. Giants

as a Cowboys fan, I'll always hate the 9'ers with a passion.

But I think the Saints can claim a rivalry currently now as well. And they used to be in the same division so they can knock some dust off of the old one. That playoff game had to re-spark it, and if both are as relevant this season, it will continue to heat up.

Greatest Rivalries of all-time according to SI:

#8 Rams - Niners (70's and 80's either the Rams or Niners were winning the NFC West.)

The Saints are the 49ers rival the same way Arkansas is LSU's rival

Rams are #4 but look at how many times the 49ers have played my top 3 in the playoffs

Well Rams were division rivals...and so for decades, the two took turns deciding the division championship.

But in terms of epicness...sure, the Cowboys. The early 80's and the early 90's. Those were epic matchups...remember, the NFC Championship game being called the real SB for a couple of years?

So it's a different category...as a post-season rivalry.

I LOL'd at both.

but seriously, if we're talking about rivalry as far as who is competitive now, this particular year..... I think the Giants/9ers and Saints/9ers have to be up there. The Rams will be 3-13 this season.

All I know is, as a Saints fan I will always root against the niners. Too many painful memories in the 80's and 90's

Yeah. And this is how I'm looking at it. I'm looking at it in terms of who can go toe to toe for a Superbowl appearance, and when it happens each decade, you have to give it some credence.

It would be nice to see the Cowboys and 49ers in the NFCCG for me. But I reckon if they play the Packers or Giants it would be just as blown up in the media. If they play the Saints again in the playoffs this season, it can be made a big deal too and could develop into a storied rivalry.

Saints, aren't a rival, nice to beat them, they have a good team. The Rivals are basically the Cowboys, Rams, and for a lot of Niners fans the Packers. Brett Favre was surprisingly clutch against the Niners.

what a dumb thread.

1. seahawks
2. rams
3. cards
4. other NFC teams

you're the 49ers. stop acting like you're all that. you went to the NFC champ game b/c you got lucky as frick and had the easiest schedule (and division) in footblal. you are basically the 2010 atlanta falcons. a fluke. have fun falling back to earth this year.
