The video is kind of hard to watch, but I still can't say that the punishment is too harsh considering the crime(s) he committed.
It's kinda crazy how one bad day or decision can ruin your entire life.
ETA - Sorry if germans

no remorse for the kid after seeing he plead guilty to kidnapping and assault. After he serves his time he still might have a future in basketball. I don't know how his sentence works if he can get any probation or reduced time with good behavior or if he will have to serve all 3 years.

damn that sucks. after reading the article the girl he kidnapped was his ex-girlfriend and she even asked the judge not to put him in prison. The reaction to his lawyer was the worst part to watch

how many times have you seen a dumb girl tell a cop or judge "oh he really isn't that bad he didn't mean to do it" so that the guy can keep beating her and taking advantage of her. There is no excuse for what he did and he earned every minute he's going to spend in jail.

they aren't together she went in on her own and said it. I agree he deserves what he got, but i feel for the kid.

I can just imagine the pressure from the community she is getting giving her the guilt trip of do you really want (basketball recruits name) to spend time in jail. Also some people just don't have it in them to stay angry at a person even if they get beat up or kidnapped by the person.

Why would anyone feel bad? Dude screwed up, got caught, pleaded guilty, and feels entitled to a free pass because he's 6-7 and good on the boards with a decent jumper I guess.
I'm glad the judge gave him an appropriate sentence. It's refreshing for once.

I saw the video in court too. Somewhat hard to watch but considering the crimes involved the judge did the right thing. If he gets a pass for that, how entitled would he feel to do something else down the road? And if there is video of him beating her that should be linked to the court video.

This. He's not a basketball player that made an innocent mistake, he's a criminal who just happens to play basketball.

Exactly. Focusing on the basketball aspect is wrong.
The problem is that he felt that it was OK for him to get violent with his girlfriend.

just watched the court video.
that's a 6-7 bitchass. He's not gonna do well in real prison. I hope he serves his time, pays his debt, and tries to do something positive w/ his life.

I'm willing to bet that everyone here, on their very worst day ever, didn't kidnap and assault someone.

Yeah, this is not just one bad decision. This is a series of terrible decisions stemming from the mentality that violence against women is OK.
