Golfers of the MSB, tell me about the LGA. I was reading about the different championships they conduct throughout the year and was considering joining. I was wondering about the total cost to join and if you get anything else besides the ability to register for these other tourneys (I realize entry into them requires a separate registration fee). I couldn't find that info online.
Also, when you go to register online, it asks you to select a club in your area to register through. Does this have any significance or is it just best to pick the location closest to me?

One does not really "join" the LGA. But In order to play or qualify for any LGA event you are required to be a member at a member club of the LGA. That basically means that you just have to have a handicap through a club that is a LGA member club. Once you are in a handicap system at a LGA member club you are considered a member of the LGA.
You can however become an individual sponsor of the LGA. That just means that you donate money (there's a couple of different levels of support) to help association run day to day operations.

This is what I was wondering. My club isn't listed as a member club of the LGA. So, I saw that city park in NOLA is a member club; however, you can't really become a "member" at city park. So, if I were to join online and list city park as my member club, could I just turn in scores there from wherever I play for LGA handicap purposes?

Yes but you will have to contact city park (or any other club) and join their handicap system. I think the usual fee is like $35 bucks. Once you are registered in that clubs handicap database you can enter scores and register for LGA events.

That answers my question. Thanks.
