Format will go from talk (sports) to religious. Guess Karre Johnson will have to beg for a job at a new station or maybe he can become a monk and sing geogian chants on air.

Skinny Tommy Chaney, Bob Mitchell ... WTIX was THE radio station in New Orleans in the '70's for pop/rock music.
All the kids in my neighborhood would try to be the "eighth caller" for all of their give-a-ways. This was back when everyone had rotary dial telephones -- which was a pain in the ass. Of course, this was all before FM became the frequency of choice for music. I can still here them playing "American Pie" as the woman sang --

He pisses me off with his fence sitting bull shite. And he's always bashing 870 gonna be funny of he ends up there.

We got a "touch tone" phone with speed dial around 1979-80 and I started winning prizes left and right. Sometimes I would be the 2nd and 4th and 6th and 8th caller.
I was 11 or 12 and we used to go down to the WTIX station in the FQ and pick up bunches of prizes, they then started the "may not win more than once in 30 days" policy. There was also a DJ called "Chuckster".

Man you guys are bringing up some good memories. I made the switch to WRNO as an older teen, but TIX was my first exposure to pop/rock. Can't forget the "TIX Chime time".

I really hope this isn't true. I really like listening to Steve Czaban on my way to work. 870 sucks.
If it is true, maybe 106.1 will pick up the Hangover but move it to the afternoon so we don't have to hear the Loose Cannons. Although 106.1 won't be Fox Sports after Jan 1 anyway.
Kaare is definitely annoying, and really sucks when he tries to talk about national politics. He also doesn't do a lot of fact checking. But I still rather have the option to listen to him than not.
