Nice article on JL.

Lee Looking Forward

quote:

“He made a nice throw,” coach Norv Turner said. “He made a lot of good throws. This whole thing is new to him. He has a lot of work to do in the details of playing. But he’s throwing the ball real well.”

I always knew Lee had the talent, I just think he wasn't properly developed while here at LSU. I really don't find it shocking that he's doing really well right now.

I find it shocking that JJ ever started over JL. I guess I shouldn't go there - but I did.

Really?? Why? Even as a JLee supporter throughout 2008, I don't think there is any doubt JJ should have started in 2009, especially after the Peach Bowl performance. And JJ actually played pretty well in 2009. 2010 is where he started to regress.

I think JL sitting through 2009 was the best thing that ever happened to him. He needed to be pulled out of the fire after Crowton continually screwed him over by calling the same plays week after week that he couldn't execute. It should have been clear to anyone that he was at the breaking point going into that Ole Miss game, and the idiot fans booing him all game and then cheering when he got hurt (almost certainly the same idiots who booed JJ this year) would have further destroyed his psyche if he hadn't been given a chance to sit and reflect and learn from his RS freshman experiences.

Saying it's SHOCKING that JJ ever started over JL is pretty much revisionist history IMO.

Honestly the most overrated performance in the history of LSU football. Check the stats on his awesome performance that day.

I think his biggest problem was his fear of being hit.

I said THE Peach Bowl performance, not HIS Peach Bowl performance. The TEAM looked by far the best it looked allyear, and JJ was a big part of that.

He played very well as a true freshman making only his second start and showed a lot of potential.

But the TEAM looked relieved and rejuvenated to have a fresh approach. That is something that people thought was very important after 1/9, how the team seemed to respond to a QB that they seemed to have lost confidence in.

JJs performance in that game was efficient at worst, again, something the JJ bashers this past year made out to be Lee's biggest virtue.

I would pretty much call anyone who says they thought Lee should start in 09 a liar, an idiot, or both.

I just don't understand the need by some people to rewrite history.

JJ had a decent half in the Peach Bowl. I guess you enjoyed watching the sackfest in 2009? Did you sit through the UF game? Or any of the many others where he looked dazed and confused? We get it, TeamSwag doesn't want to admit that Les played favorites and sat the more talented of the two QB's. And please spare me the spreadsheets, winning percentages and Tebow comparisons. Here's hoping JL hangs on to living his dream. He's with one of the great offensive coaches in the game.

Whatever.

JLee should have started in 2009.
Certianly not uncommon for fresh qbs so struggle their first year, as bad as he played at times he certianly had his share of good play too, kid had plenty to build upon.
Lee unlike JJ improved during his time at LSU, and he did so with very sparatic playing time.. JJ was a constant since that peach bowl game and was worse the day he finished than the day he started.

Bc most people with a brain can look back over time and see what's what.
Its really not that hard, you should calm down and try it.

Nothing like taking an article about how JLee is progressing in the NFL and turning it into a JLee vs JJ thread

This. If you look at old videos from the 2011 season you can see how awkward it is after he throws a pass. He like makes these steps backwards, just doesn't look comfortable. I have much respect for JL and think he was a better qb than JJ. Just sayin

Let him make the team first.

1. Doesn't take a hit well (won't say he is afraid, I don't know).

2. He plays smaller than he is.

3. He's slow and immobile. So is Peyton, but JL does not seem to have a sense for pressure.

4. Makes poor throwing decisions when under pressure.

Like I said, let him make a team first.

It is telling of who was actually the better option for LSU.

And yes, JL should have started in 2009.

20 years from now if some one looks at the stat lines for the two players and then they see who was the starter they will really be shocked.
both completed roughly the same amount of passes, threw about the same amount of INTs, Jefferson attempted more passes, Lee had a higher completion pct., Lee threw for more TDs, Jefferson had the edge in yardage, Lee's EFF rating was better. Points per game on offense was better with Lee.
Lee biggest obstacle was the 2008 season, after that Miles and Crowton seemed to lose confidence in him and he never really got it back. I would have like to see the same time and effort put into developing Lee that was afforded to Jefferson. Providing Lee can make the final roster with SD we may get to see him develop as a QB with Norv Turner.
