Saw one this weekend with a guide in Fourchon. Unreal. Thousands of reds breaking the water all around us for about 10 min. Bumping into the boat. It was crazy. Needless to say w hammered the reds and was a little slow on the trout.

It was really cool to see a "Red Tide". That's what the guide called it

OP, a red tide is a bloom of dinoflagellates that litterally turn the water red with their bodies.

They also give off toxins that if ingested can be very dangerous.

My dad got a report of a guy seeing two seperate instances on the outside of Whiskey pass this past weekend.

I have seen that once. Acres and acres of reds everywhere. I caught one on just a gold hook.
