He's getting a great deal of love from Charger fans after that first game.

I don't know. Les didn't think it was fair to stick poor little Jarrett in against Bama. He looks to have held his own against the pros, though.

It's still early but I like his chances

Nice to see JL perform well and be appreciated. Hopefully he will continue to progress during the preseason and at least catch on with a practice team this year.

He may make a practice roster which is better than most gave him a shot at doing.

I laughed at that too. And just for reference, they mean this guy:

Didn't they waive the other qb O'Connor?

The Charger coaching staff wasted a bunch of snaps on Lee if he is not at least being considered in the Charger plan in some capacity.

I am sure his performance in that game was/is under close scrutiny/evaluation.

Question is "how did the coaches (not the fans) evaluate the performance?). My opinion is he probably did pretty well.

I am sure the next couple of games will be critical and the evaluation much more intense.

I hope and believe he will do well and I hope he makes the roster and if not the roster----at least the practice squad.

The coaches didn't really have any other options. There was literally no other QB ready to take those snaps.

Love Lee and like all former Tigers I wish him all the success in the world. But SD has signed like 5 QBs in the past few weeks trying to solidify the backup spot. They want a vet at #2, not a rookie.

Plus, JL still has a long way to go before he's ready to step in against a #1 NFL D. He's relying too much on arm strength right now. I didn't see him going through progressions at all. Seemed to throw to his first option all night. All of that should sound very familiar to any LSU fan (not even mentioning the off the back foot thing cause it's pretty obvious that's just the way he's going to play).

Also, while he looked great on some deep balls, his short passes, the screen in particular were very very bad.

And that last pass of the game when he armed that out route while falling backwards, was an awful decision. That 5th string DB who won't make the roster got a hand on it. PP7 would have walked that back to the other end zone for 6.

Not sure if it's better for JL at this point in preseason to make that throw to show his arm strength, or throw it away to show that he knows when to settle for a FG in that situation.

Either way, his snaps will go way down next week with Rivers getting many more and Whitehurst getting the vast majority of the rest.

Regardless, it was a lot of fun watching him play, and got to see Brandon Taylor get some attention by ESPN later in the game as well.

Without a doubt the first time I've ever watched a complete preseason game that wasn't the Saints

My wife assured me this would NOT become a habit

Yeah that is the type of thing that will make the coaches take the good throws he made with a grain of salt.

One of those in the film room where the coaches just stare in disbelief saying "What the frick were you doing??"

Wonder how far back he would have gone if it had been Darnell Docket bearing down on him. Might have had an Aaron Brooks moment
