LSU's Substance Abuse Policy for Student Athletes and Information from NCAA

There has been a lot of speculation on here. First and foremost, we do not know what TM Violated as this is protected personal information. If it was substance abuse, below you will find links to several informative pieces of information.
You can draw your own conclusions. IMO The LSU Athletic Department had no choice but to dismiss him if he failed multiple tests while still on probation. He would have had to wait out 1 year and maybe be back next. He was likely going pro after this one with a decent season. So in his best interest, he transferred.

Article on the conference in general on this subject.
We do not really know how many tests he actually failed. Also, if one was an NCAA one(seems like that was the case last year) then that is an issue.
Who knows how many tests TM actually failed...

What is the penalty for failing a school-issued drug test?
Each NCAA member is responsible for determining whether to establish an institutional drug-testing program, at which time the school would be responsible for determining applicable penalties. If a testing program is established, though, the school is obligated to enforce the penalties. Failure to do so can lead to NCAA sanctions

Wish he would choose this. Hope its still an option though

That last part is the kicker. Was wondering if the ncaa can bring sanctions if you dont follow the rules the unuv and ad put in place.

That would be bad news for both parties. Time to move on to a new era of LSU football......a championship era.

It is supose to be if you read LSU's policy. All the media slippage is the result of his status and the image he has brought onto himself.
Shut up and play football and make $$$$...See Mo Claiborne

So nothing about being expelled from LSU and everything is within the scope of the athletic department as are other NCAA related compliance issues....as I stated multiple times in the other thread?

Once a student turns 18, the University can't even release information to a student's parents without authorization ... this goes for grades, health issues, etc.

Did you actually read the part on NCAA Sanctions? How about LSU is already on probation...He had no choice... As I stated, he could pay for school if he wanted to, but would have to meet enrollment requirements. LSU did what was best for LSU. Image is everything... If you believe that LSU was going to hold his scholly after very likely MULTIPLE violations and retests, you are out of your mind. They had to cut him loose.

Yes, I certainly did but it is now apparent that you didn't comprehend anything I said in the other thread....since you just posted multiple links to support my point.

While I expect he will go pro after a year at a lesser school, I think there is a chance that he could come back for his senior season (assuming he demonstrates that he has cleaned his act up). If he wanted to transfer back after a year away, would Miles take him? I think so...

He was likely here with this. He likely was tested when he came back and then went through apeal, then tested positive again in 48 hours. BUT WHO KNOWS!
11. A successful appeal will result in routine drug tests for the student-athlete. If institutional drug testing reveals the existence of drugs at any time an automatic positive test will be issued and Permanent Ineligibility to participate at LSU will result.

You do know that he failed an NCAA test before right? You also do know that LSU is on probation? Everything is very clear knowing what people do in these situations. I happen to have testing responsibilities in my past with a previous employer where I had to administer the program. It is so very easy to do and clear to me what LSU did to help him, then cut him loose. The UNIVERSITY is bigger than one person. HE WAS BOOTED OFF the team and LOST his Scholorship, thus no longer a student athlete. He certainly would have had to figure out admissions at a minimum IF LSU would have allowed him to do so.

I get that.....but its drugs. We all know its drugs. I was told he pissed hot from multiple people close to the situation. Now he has to face the consequences of his stupid actions. We'll be fine.

Has nothing to do with my point. You were confused, it isn't a big deal.

Jakes ASSUMPTION is legitimate but if you were positive and an abuser and appealed , you could stay clean and still piss dirty by appeal if a significant abuser.

You keep posting this "lack of institutional control" stuff but if we kick a player off the team for a year and allow him to return one year later, can you explain to me how this is a lack of institutional control? It seems like we had given a very significant punishment to a person, allowed him to stay on the up and up, and return if he had cleaned up his act.
You continue to post it, but I'm not sure how a severe punishment on our best player results in larger NCAA issues down the line?
