Recruiting Rankings from the 4 major sites

I am not really sure I fully understand 247 new team ranking system even after reading it on their site. It states that it is basically an average of the 4 major sites (by prospect)using composite scores. However the current team rankings from the 3 other major sites are as follows
Scout 7
Rivals 4
ESPN 10
Yet 247 has them ranked 11th. At first glance that makes me think if 247 used thier own rating they would have our class ranked around 23 using averages of team rankings (I understand they do this by player). I just didn't think it would skew the 247 composite ranking that much.
Personally I agree with a lot of people on the board that think 247 should have their own team rankings with a separate composite score ranking. In the end I know the rankings don't mean anything and I am extremely happy with this class. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

Agreed. Just thought it to be funny that 247 has us ranked behind even ESPN.

I really don't get why they don't do this either. Why even acknowledge the other sites? Stand by your own rankings.

From what I was told from a staff member on 247. The team rankings are their own rankings and other sites are not included. But they just show the composite player score next to the school.

I agree. I know it's been stated in other threads but using ESPN bothers me. They don't have near the resources other sites have. I think eventually they will have 2 separate rankings but they could be holding theirs back so the other sites can not do the same thing on their sites.

That is the first of have heard of this. I thought I remember reading the composite rankings are used for the team rankings

The way I understand it is the composite rankings are "their" rankings because it is currently the only set they have. The composite rankings are based on individual player ratings of other sites, not the team rankings.

I could of miss read the way he was explaining because it was confusing. But I know he said that other sites are not used in calculating the team rankings.

You had to misunderstand, it wouldn't be "composite" if they weren't taking the other sites into account. They do not use the other sites' team rankings, just the individual player rankings.

According to an interview that Shannon did about a month ago, he stated that the new system was put in place to do away with any claims of 247 Sports showing bias towards any certain teams when ranking players.

The problem with that, is that they are using sites that show bias to other teams. *Cough Cough* ESPN.

Just gives us more satisfaction and we can point to this when all of the pundits say LSU has the most talent......
