Does Assassin's Creed Brotherhood follow the storyline?

I just started playing Assassin's Creed and played through both parts 1 and 2. Does Brotherhood follow the same story line as the first two or is it just stories based off of the character from part 2? If it doesn't, is it still worth getting?

Not sure it follows the same storyline, but its a fun game nonetheless.

I thought Brotherhood started right after the events of 2?
ETA: I've only played a little bit of brotherhood and haven't played 2. Just a guess on my part

Yes. It follows AC2 storyline.
New storyline, same characters. Its not as good as AC2, but it';s still worth buying IMO.

Brotherhood and Revelations are really AC2.1 and AC2.2. They follow the storylines of Ezio and Desmond immediately following AC2 (AC2.0). If you don't play ACB and ACR, then not only are you cheating yourself out on great gaming, but you'll also be a little lost for the Desmond storyline when you play AC3.

While I agree, ACB and ACR are very close to AC2, IMO.
My favorites in order starting with the best:
AC2, ACB, ACR, AC1

Brotherhood takes AC2 and improves it. I think it is the best in the series.
