I still think Rueben should have come back. A year with Mett and he would have not been the 9th WR taken at the back of the second round.

His contract is 4 years/$3.29 million. I won't compare him to Blackmon because expecting him to go top 5 is unrealistic. But does anyone think we would not have gone mid-first round a la Michael Floyd (5 yrs/$10.0 million) or at least in the first round like AJ Jenkins (4 years/$6.95 million). Don't get me wrong, $820K a year is sweet! But $1.74 million or $2 million a year is far sweeter. Given the short career prospects for an NFL player, that first contract is HUGE.

Randle now finds himself where DeSean Jackson was for the last three years. $800K per year. If he breaks out and is a star, he'll be underpaid significantly for 3 years at least. If he gets hurt, not enough to be set for life.

Not trying to flame RR. I hope he has a great career. But future LSU guys who might be tempted to come out a little too early (e.g., Tharold Simon, Chris Faulk, Mett), it's a real life lesson in patience.

Richardson was supposed to come here. Bama was not even in the picture. I believe that we lost another running back that year who had originally committed to us. ( i think the other one went to KState)Trent was the one that told Miles that he had faxed his letter of intent and acted like we lost the letter on signing day and then signed with Bama about a week or two later.

His departure from LSU will go down as one of the strangest ever. Dude just disappeared after 1/9. No presser, no written letter to a newspaper, no tweet, no facebook post.... nothing.

Or he could have gotten hurt his senior year and never made it to the League. Decisions are made based on incomplete information. Only 20/20 hindsight will tell if it was the right one.

Absolutely true. Although the writing was on the wall with this one. It was so obvious, even I could predict it:

no, he had been committed to Bama for quite a while, there was speculation that he was wavering and that Sam Montgomery might try to get him to flip. TR had an announcement event late on signing day and signed the Tide LOI...

No. We tried to flip Trent late. Sam Montgomery seemed fairly confident when he committed that morning that Trent would commit to LSU that afternoon. Saban sent AJ and some other Bama commits down to Tren's HS to talk him into staying with Bama and Trent did.
