2011 AND 2012 LSU Team leadership/ character/ controversy

A year ago today, word surfaced that Russell Shepard might have compliance issues. He was suspended for the Oregon opener and never seemed to get on track.
Three weeks later, Aug.19 a fight broke at Shady's that put LSU, it's starting QB and others in the news for weeks. More suspensions. Unfortunately, JJ later returned to his previous form.
Later, three of our best players. Tyran M., Spencer Ware and Tharold Simon got suspended for Auburn for synthetic weed (!). Ware never came back to form.
Many of these guys return.
None of this was consistent with Nat'l Championhsip discipline.
Different team leadership and character this time around?

Right, the whole synthetic weed thing was stupid.
But these are not the type of distractions you want when you have a team in the hunt for a championship.
It was a young team, with weak team leadership.

As compared to the championship discipline on those '80s and '90s miami teams or are you comparing those issues more with the above boards last decade USC and ohio state teams?
