Emmert was forced out at LSU

Emmert was into academics. The athletic program was a means to an end for him. He had done it before successfully. Hiring Saban was a good decision, but just part of his plan for the University. When Gov Blanco slashed his budget to push more money to ULL she might as well have fired him. He had had offers to return to Washinton previously. That time he took it.

So he'd be totally ecstatic and orgasmic over the Jindal's budget cuts if he was still here. Blanco had little to do with Emmert's departure. Blanco looks like Santa Claus compared to Bobby's evisceration of LSU. Jindal has shitcanned any possibility of LSU being a flagship.

1. Check the economy (and federal funding) during both of those terms.
2. Check the law which states that only higher ed and health can be cut when the budget comes up short.

Obviously you didn't read the article you linked. Here's the first two sentences:
quote:
Former LSU chancellor Mark Emmert is considering leaving his position as NCAA President to return to the Baton Rouge school, according to an internet report.
Through NCAA vice president of communications Bob Williams, Emmert responded to the claim, “That's complete nonsense.”

I wish more would realize this.

You realize Bobby's cuts to higher ed are across the board, not just at LSU, right?

Pretty sure it had something to do with the fact that he graduated from U dub.

Just like Saban was forced out at LSU.

This...
is a completely misleading thread title to describe this...
Emmert had a plan for the whole university for sure, and academics were of course the primary focus, but he also had a great appreciation for the benefits of a successful athletic program. That is why he emphasized athletic success at all the schools he led. Before he came to LSU, he was the driving force behind UConn's move into big-time FBS football. At LSU, he quickly told Joe Dean to sit down and shut up while he hired us a good football coach. He was perhaps the best chancellor LSU has ever had, and was NOT forced out by anyone, nor did anyone want him to leave voluntarily.

And you realize that Blanco moved money to the UL System, NOT ULL specifically.

Last I checked being a Governor was allegedly proof of your ability to believe not only in yourself but in other's belief that you could lead for the greater good.
...and if you don't think leading a charge to call a Constitutional Convention in which we changed our backwards arse Constitutional Protections of State expenses at the cost of cutting Higher Ed & Healthcare, then you probably are a sand-drinking, Kool-Aid loving company-line toeing type that thinks Jindal's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
He claims victories like renaming state agencies & building 6 lane highways. Those are fairly important accomplishments but this state is aching to get a real, true leader who will champion education & healthcare.
Edwin Edwards & Camille Gravel wrote our last Constitution in '72. They figured they'd slap anyone in the face who wanted to cut the budget by protecting almost all of it and forcing conservative hands by exercising fiscal responsibility in the one area it would cost them votes: healthcare & education.
Jindal has not shown an appetite for real leadership, which would involve changing our Constitution.
He's been more about the headlines & talking points. He's not about Louisiana. He's about self-aggrandization.
