Going up there to visit a buddy and we are gonna try and get a few rounds of golf in. So far we are playing redstone tournament course on Tuesday and and are looking for another course to play. We were thinking about wildcat but are open to other suggestions. Also, anyone played redstone tournament course before? TIA

I think we should make one thread. A golf course directory. It could be great. Someone could update the OP with a list of all the best courses in each city.
It could be referred to all the time and hold all the info.
Kinda like where to watch the LSU game in which city.

Black Horse is also operated by Redstone so thats a good choice, and so is wild cat, I personally like the lakes course better. But Black horse south course is my favorite out of these 4 options.

Tour 18 is good if in good condition. They recreate Augusta National's Amen Corner really well. They also have Sawgrass' 17th hole.
It is not too far from Redstone. You could do both in the same day.
Redstone Companies also own Black Horse GC. It is on 290 towards Austin. Maybe a 45 minute drive, with decent traffic, from Redstone. They keep Blackhorse in great condition.
Wildcat is fun. I prefer Lakes Course over the Highlands. Notable about this course. The views to Downtown/Med Center. Which are made possible by the fact that the course was built on an old land fill.
I play Memorial Park alot. One of the best Muni courses in the country. Really busy though. We go here alot becuase it is close to some places on Washington Ave for afterdrinks.
Wildcard: Moody Gardens Golf Club in Galveston. If you have the time and want to head down there I would recommend Moody Gardens Golf. I played here in April and have been wanting to go back ever since. Go here and then go to Gaidos on the Seawall for food/drink.

Blackhorse is a great option, but it has been closed for the past week due to flooding. I would not play it next week, assuming that it even re-opens in time.

Thanks for all the suggestions, its crazy how many nice courses Houston has. My buddy lives in midtown which looks pretty close to both wildcat and memorial park, which one do you prefer?

I would pick Wildcat just because it's gonna get less traffic. Both good choices though.

I'm a member at Black Horse still closed down, hoping it clears up next week. Redstone is pretty good, heard Houston Nat'l was looking good last week as well.

Wild Cat is fun.
What area of town are you staying in?
If you are in Kingwood/Humble area go and play the Cypresswood Golf Club...the Tradition course was always listed as one of best in Houston. I haven't played it in over a year, but it was great then.

Tour 18 is fun, but overpriced in my opinion

Wildcat is really fun and offers elevation changes that you don't find at many other Houston/South LA courses.
I wouldn't recommend Memorial due to the tee time lotto and crowds on the weekend.

Looks like it's only 40 bucks on Monday, seems like a pretty good value, no?

Go Wildcat. It is also a big hangout for Houston area pro athletes...

IF you're willing to drive, some of the best courses are outside the city. Someone already mentioend Cypresswood Tradition, but also consider River Ridge (west of Katy), Woodforest Golf Club at Fish Creek in Montgomery, Eagle Point in Mont Belview, and Greatwood in Sugarland (really tough greens).
