We are thinking of going Sunday, 7/29. Where should we sit? Bleachers? What places should we get some food/beers around Wrigley?

Bleachers are cool, but if you think this will be your only trip to Wrigley, sit 3rd base line or something like that.

anywhere really. the park is kind of like you are walking into a movie. i would say try and sit around home plate. cool looking from there because you can see the outfield bleachers, people on top the buildings etc

cant tell you about food/beers cause its been awhile since i have been to chicago

If you do sit in the outfield bleachers and a home run is hit to you, toss it to home plate before the guy rounds the bases. Guaranteed you get picked up and then star in american pie.

Bleachers..

Before the game you could go to Murphy's, Vines, Goose Island, Casey Moran's,etc.

After the game, hit up Vines or Casey Moran's. Also, Slugger's isn't bad.

There's a couple bars across the street from centerfield that have solid food and great beer. Can't remember the names. And bleachers are neat but they are hot.

Honestly, there are like 50 bars around the field. They all serve typical bar food and most of it is good.

I would avoid the Cubby Bear which is at Clark and Addison. It's just a clusterfrick most of the time and pretty annoying.

No doubt...hot girls, cold beer. Good times. And I hate the Cubs.

The best thing about wrigley field is that you don't have to watch the game to have the best experience MLB has to offer, which is great because the cubs would certainly ruin it otherwise.

The shitty food, the ancient latrines, the falling concrete, the constant yammering from chicks still wearing Mark Prior t-shirts...the Cubs aren't ruining anything in that dump.

Bleachers can be fun if you intend to get hammered, don't mind constant chatter and people coming and going throughout the game. If you want to actually watch some of the game and still enjoy the views of the scoreboard and ivy, down the 3rd base line is nice.

As for bars, I agree with avoiding The Cubby Bear. Clusterfrick sums it up perfectly. Casey Moran's is a good shout. I personally like The Dark Horse as well.

Good place. Out of curiousity, do you live in the city?

No I'm in the suburbs, but I have friends all over the city. I'm usually down there every other weekend or so.

This. I swore off the Cubby Bear years ago. Murphy's Bleachers before the game and Sluggers if the Cubs win after are my favorites.

There's an Irish Bar on Clark called the Oaks or some such that's a couple of blocks from Wrigley that I like to and Vines on Clark is cool, decent bar food.
