Don't tell anyone about this but Hayden Rettig is Tommy Rettig. See the rumor is that Tommy, once at the age of 17, was bitten by this unidentified creature and then soon disapeared without a trace. It was thought hes been seen over the years all over the US and most recently California. Haydens team is named the Phantoms and strangly they only play at night .... You put the rest together

Except for the team name, and that they only play at night, I have heard this exact story from several very reliable sources over the past several months.
Could be something to it...
