Can someone give me some pointers on the differences from regular leagues and if its more fun? Also the troubles of running a keeprs league...thanks.

It's pretty self explanatory. Just makes the off-season more fun, as well as allowing the shitty teams to make trades in season to build towards the future.
There are no more troubles in running a keeper league than a regular league.

Pretty easy...
Most leagues allow you to keep 2-3 players at the expense of a draft pick the next season. Usually the penalty is 1 or 2 rounds ahead of where the player was drafted.

The troubles are when people drop out of the league or when the teams at the bottom get stuck with shitty players that they don't want to keep.

I'm in one that will be going into it's 6th season. Easily my favorite league, shite talk is fueled by terrible trades that have transpired throughout the years and have created intense rivalries. We HAVE to keep 5 keepers a year.
Problems we have run into are people losing on purpose to get higher draft choices, and the bad teams have tended to stay bad.

We have the option of keeping 2 players for the cost of 2 draft picks higher than their previous years value. Player can be kept no longer than three seasons and they have to go back in the pool. Best league i'm in. A couple of us are in 5 leagues together and we created this keeper league with only past champions of the other leagues. Extremely competitve. I lover keeper.

We've got a really good setup. Players are assigned values by round in draft and we keep a limited number of players that count towards a cap. Players kept increase in value each year so that they make their way back into the draft periodically. Players are kept in the round drafted, pick forfeited; undrafted players kept are kept in last round. Works very well.
