Thinking of taking my wife out there to fish off the beach. Anyone have any tips? Would the state park be better?

Took my wife and kids the last two months on my days off. It's a dirtier beach than the state park (think sea weed and dead fish), but you can just drive right on it. No hauling gear and everything, which with a wife and 2 kids was a plus for me. You can find some clean spots though.

Just you and your wife, it shouldn't be that much gear. So if she wants a cleaner beach then go to the park.

Driving right up sounds like a plus.

It definitely is when you have damn chairs, ice chest, fishing poles, tackle box, toys, etc etc.

It's even better at the end of the day when you just turn around, throw all that shite back in the truck and leave.

I have not been down there for years. If there are not paths to drive. Drive on the wet sand so you don't get stuck, carry a shovel and bucket if you do...

Do they have any breakers set up around Elmer's? I generally defer to fishing grand isle because I already have a handful of proven spots?
