Why doesn't ESPN hire actual "experts"?

Wilbon just stated on PTI that the big schools other than "Alabama the last couple of years" don't go on the road and play ranked schools. How hard would this have been to research or even just know based on following college fb?

Yeah college football is definately not Wilbon and Tony K's best subject. I'm sure they just assumed a school like Bama must play great OOC games

They barely care about college sports, they're pro guys all they way.
The guys on "The Experts" on ESPNU, as infuriating as they can be, I promise they know more about college football than most any fan.
ETA: We know more about LSU than they do, and maybe even some of the SEC schools, but they cover a lot more schools.

What do you know? You know LSU right? Just think if you had to know every team in America, you couldn't. Give these guys breaks. They're not LSU fans, they're not gonna mention the Tigers every time they talk.

That's fine. I don't get paid to talk about sports in general on tv. Anyone who remotely follows sports should've recalled the Oregon-LSU game in Jerryworld and the game at West Virgina especially since they were covered by the network they work for.

1) They aren't fans, their full time job is sports.
2) It's not like LSU is some scrub arse middle of the pack program. I would expect a good understanding of the top 10-15 teams in CFB from any "professional" sports guy.
3) It's not like we were playing these games on ESPN42. We played Oregon, WVU, Bama, and Bama as premier games of the weekend.

Like what was stated earlier, college is not their thing.

Then why do they talk about it like it is?

Ha. What was their big ranked game they played last year? And pretty sure in 2010 was the same as well

they truly don't do their homework or know shite about sports.. and it's pathetic.

Its a good time to be Alabama, getting that kind of presumptive credit. They're the winners right now, so it's going to happen. No excuse for professionals to be spouting that kind of ignorant crap though.
Even the most marginally attentive fan knew las tyear that LSU had run the table one of the all-time great schedules, including two OOC BCS conference and BCS bowl champs. It was the single greatest regular season in the history of college football, forever relegated to the trashbin of what-ifs because of the gam e that followed.
FWIW, that does not mean I think LSU had the best team ever, just that the alignment of stars for the combination of brutal schedule and team performance have never before been seen.

If we close the deal and beat Baby Bear the all the experts are saying we were the best ever blah blah.

The real question is: why do the people who hate espn so much continue to watch?
It is like liberals who listen to rush limbaugh, you hate it but keep tuning in... just don't.
I like espn, I watch, and I don't get my panties in a bunch everitt time they may our may not slight lsu in some way

They hire their buddies and faces that they think people will like. After last year, idk how they don't at least mention us in that category.

This too. I've probably watched ESPN like 3 times since 1/9. Just sick of their bias and fake journalism. They're turning it into drama I've sports. I simply don't watch. You can find everything you want to know online without all the opinions that piss you off. That's all ESPN is; opinions.
