I haven't beaten the game since I was 13 so I don't remember my strategy. I did remember to send my weaker party to Balamb to fight Norg later, so I'm stuck with Selphie, Irvine, and Quistis at the base.

My only shot at beating him is killing him with Quezacotl before he can kill my party with that damn beam cannon. Is there anything to defend with against beam cannon? Casting protect isn't worth a shite.

Does shell help any? I'm trying to remember which battle you are Talkin about.

Edit: shell should half his damage output.

Its a huge tank-type vehicle with 2 soliders inside controlling it. As you damage it, the six pods on top explode individually.

It only has like 8000 HP, and Quezacotl does ~1700 per cast, but that beam cannon effs my party up hard.

ETA: thanks, now I just have to find a Shell draw point, fml

Selphie's limit break FTW.

Gotta hope she is still alive after that attack, if she's in the yellow, hit triangle until her limit break comes up and keep hitting "do over" or whatever until you get Full-Cure. Other than that, just cast lightning and Quezacotl.

Lightning magic and the GF should be enough. See what you can draw from him. Might help.

You can supposedly cast blind on him but that shite always misses.

Blind would only work for the physical attacks btw. Beam cannon would still hit and hit hard.

I agree with the limit break suggestion. Just risky.

Another idea, if you have learned the elemental attack junction skill, you can junction a lightning spell with it and see if a regular attack does more damage than just casting the spell.

Still think Selphie's limit break is your best bet for staying alive. The closer the HP is to 0 the more likely you are to get to use the lb.

never had much of a problem with this fight.

He is very weak against thunder and pretty weak against earth and ice.

Draw-cast Shell from it...

Cast Quezecotl, Brothers, and Shiva and boost the shite out of them, ????, Profit

what level are you?

FF8 is like the one FF game where you don't want to be too high of a level before the third disc

I always grind like hell at the start and selphie is always stacked in Magic. 99 thundara and 99 meltdown or quake junctioned to magic = boss.

Nice. I did once on the console and then twice on my emulator.

I sold my cartridge on eBay for like $350 so it was well worth it
