With the MLS transfer window open I was wondering if there are any big names headed state side. I've heard rumors about andrei shevchenko to dc united and possible ballack to a team willing to pay him. Didn't know if there were any other rumors out there or how true these are

I've heard Kaka to the Red Bulls and Alessandro Nesta is going to the Impact.

Perhaps, Toronto should have made the moves for Nesta and Di Viao with their immense Italian community.
I'm not that familiar with Montreal overall but I think the Di Viao and Nesta signings will be good ones. Both players are aging but were still highly productive against top flight competition this past year.
From pretty much an outside perspective, a world class defender like Nesta, even if in decline athletically, seems almost a better idea for most MLS clubs I see than famous attackers. I know the attackers sell tickets but the bigger leap to be made by most MLS clubs I see seems to be more related to defensive organization.

Portland's GM only scouts Scotland and Colombia, so I'm assuming they'll participate in the Rangers fire sale.
