Dish dropped AMC

FWIW, I called 888-581-1972 (From an email received from Dish) and was given a $10.00 credit per month for a year and a free Roku.
I'd rather watch Breaking Bad via Amazon anyway.

I dropped Dish for Direct TV last week. Now I not only get AMC but also all the NFL games free this year.

This. I save money with Direct TV for 2 years, $35 off a month for 12 months then $10 off per month for the second year (better deal than what the OP got), then I can always switch back to Dish after the 2 years and get whatever deal they are running at that time.
ETA: and no, I did not use a referral. If not too late I would be happy to get us both $100.

What did you have to say to get this? I'm on the phone with them now and they are saying I can stream Amazon through my Dish receiver and they will credit my account for every episode I watch. I'd rather the $10/month and free Roku.
Nvm...rep just admitted that they arent able to stream Amazon through the receiver after I called him on it and he's transferring to the dept. for the free Roku.

They offered 3 months for BB@Home, and I said i would rather credit to my account.
They offered $10 for 6 months, I said I'd rather that offer for 12 months.
They agreed right away.
I asked about the free Roku some people were getting and they offered the Roku.
Make sure you are speaking to Customer Loyalty.

Call up and say you are pissed about them dropping AMC. The first guy will offer you blockbuster, etc. Just say you dont want it. They will send you to Customer Loyalty. I just finished with them and they are sending me the Roku player, will credit my account for the full seasons of Breaking Bad and Walking Dead, so I can stream the new episodes for free. And they gave me Cinemax free for 1 year. I could have probably pressed for the $10/month credit for a year, but I had to get back to work.

Well I couldn't get the $10 a month. Got a Roku and an instead $30 credit instead. Can't complain too much about that I suppose.

you know as much as people bitch about cable I NEVER have to worry about any channels getting dropped, much less major channels like amc.

this is true. I really don't bitch about cable though. I got Dish because whenever I ordered it cable wasn't offering digital where I live since I live in the middle of nowhere
