Wanting to take the kids crabbing,never been there. Any reports? Where to go to avoid sand in the crabs?

How have the surf conditions been? I went two weeks ago and it was rough, probably cause of Debby though.

just got back from GI. Launched from the first bridge and fished the marsh north of LA1. Caught 2 rat reds, one nice one, and lost a monster.
Good trip but now I'm dead
PS- Couldn't ask for much better conditions. Wind picked up a little late morning but nothing i couldn't handle

thanks for the report. Glad you caught a few, even though I'm sure you had a few choice words losing that monster. I'm going down there with my yak on Monday. Mostly to surf fish for specks. Although, I will try out the marsh for reds during the day.

Where do you normally go to surf fish in GI for specks?

Either Elmers island or towards the end of the island and fish the rock jetties that run parallel with the beach.

my line snapped above the popping cork. So that fricker was still hooked to the cork. about 5 minutes later I saw it. Slow crept up to it, grabbed it, and he made a run. Popped the line though so i got my cork back

yea i'm fishing with a makeshift older citica right now. Has mono. I miss my braid
