Now that the Hornets lost Okafor and Ariza and are turning into a pretty young team, do you think that they can be a playoff team or a lottery team? One of the guys on Mike and Mike said the Hornets might be the second worst team in NBA history next season while others say they can be an 8th seed with Davis on the team.

Thoughts?

kind of hard to make a judgement til after draft and to see if we make any FA moves but this statement is beyond laughable

I think we have to see what happens in the draft and FA. We don't even know how big the hole at Center and Small Forward will be yet.

For the Hornets to make the playoffs someone has to miss them. Houston is trying to pull off some big moves that would let them bump someone from the playoffs too. The Jazz obviously were the weakest team in the playoffs last season so I could see them getting bumped, especially if they trade Jefferson or Millsap. The Clippers don't have a GM and there is talk of Chauncy going to Miami. Could the Clippers be trading Paul at the trade deadline? How improved will Minnesota be?

It's just too hard to say right now. It's doubtful the team will be the 2nd worst, but they're not a lock for the playoffs either at this point.

The West is tough. Assuming the Hornets don't spend in FA until next year, I think they are picking in the 9-12 range.

The guy said 2nd worst next to the Bobcats in the NBA, so maybe he didn't mean the actual second-worst in history. Hopefully.

If the Hornets keep Eric Gordon and pick up a good FA, I think they will be a 43-39 kind of team, which is possibly a playoff team. It is true we can't judge this well yet, but I think Davis and Gordon alone provide great talent. I have a lot of confidence in Davis and in Gordon if we can keep him and he stays healthy

not that I don't trust you, but can we get audio of that? because maybe he said last season?

if he thinks we are going to be the worst team in the league next year, then he hasn't looked at our roster and didn't notice how little oak played last year and that we're upgrading on at least 2 of our 5 starters. that's ridiculous.

that's STILL a playoff team in the East and nowhere near worst team in the league by a long shot

I'll say 39-43 and 11th in the West. Nice year to build on.

I think the Hornets will end up with another top 10 lottery pick next season. I think they will win be around 31-51.

I say save the money to try to make a splash in next year's FA class and continue building via the draft with another top lottery pick. There will be more bigger names in next year's FA class versus this year.

The hornets were the 4th worst team in the nba this year with a hodge podge of backups starting all year. When you add AD and get Gordon to actually play this season, they could definitely sneak in at the 8th spot. I see them at 8th-10th in the west. (assuming they sign Gordon, and he plays more than 10 games).

There's a good chance we can sneak into the playoffs. You have to remember how many crappy teams there are out there.

ETA: In the NBA you can rely on ONE guy to get it done against shitty teams. We will have that this year, something we lacked in '11-'12.
